Hello All,
Is it me or do other members find this site so slow when downloading pages ?
-
hi
same here , only started after virgin took over from telewest :(
-
It happens now and again with me to.
-
Been with Virgin for years and not had a problem with speed.
Try and clean up the drive on your pc & give it a defragment.
The more you have saved on your pc the slower it will run.
-
virgins severs are bad depends on the areas you are in though i phoned up to complain that it was just as bad as dial up im sure they then upgraded me
-
Yep I agree , defraged last week , so not that , and yes definetly slow still

no virgin here and i'm getting the same. Everytime i browse lately the odd page takes ages.
Maybe the sites server needs defragmenting??
-

-
and me
-
Yep so bad I gave up last night >:(

The site owners have been notified and the site is being investigated for possible causes.

Thanks for the reassurence. My laptop was given a 2 1/2 hour overhaul last week and works as good as the day it was purchased. Peace of mind thats all, but it is a pain.

Dave - thats good to hear because it was 4 June when I first raised the queery on this. :)
-
I had the same problem. The posts with a lot of replies took ages to come up.
I thought I had picked up some spy ware that was slowing things down.
Seems ok today though. Dai

Thought it was my wireless router playing up (it's old). Apparently not. I've found pages with lots of pics to be slow too.

I’m no Computer Tech but I believe it may have something to do with the location of the Host Server and the number of routers between your local machine and each router in the route and the milliseconds between each segment. Traffic to the server may be routed to a number of other servers before reaching the host.
Anyone on the tech side of the forum could answer if this forum is on a Dedicated Server if it is, then it blows the above explanation of why we are getting a slow response.
Basically is' not our computers or ISP's. But then again I'm only a window cleaner not a computer nerd.

indeed, i wouldnt think the traffic ( bandwidth ) on this site would come close to a dedicated server
