I started advertising in the Yellow Pages & have had limited success. I really only want commercial work so all the domestic calls are of no real interest to me.
Having said that it only takes one really good job to come up & you'll be glad you did it.

6 six years ago I got a phone call from a 120 room hotel just being completed no more than 2 mins drive from my house & it has more or less paid my mortgage each month ever since. That was from a free line advert in Thomson Local. As they say you have to be in it to win it.

Just one word of warning if you do advertise in Yell or YPages get ready for the phone calls mithering you to increase your ad or advertise in the other one. Had to get a little shirty with them the other day & told them I do not wish to receive their calls anymore!

How much have you been quoted?

Hi Paul

The yell.com, sponsored link with web-link is about £380 and the ad size in directory i have been looking at is around the five hundred pound mark so not overly cheap, but as you say it only takes one call!

I've not had a problem with them trying to increase the add.
Always found YP quite helpful.
I'm looking at changing my ad to a colour one.

I took out a small box which costs me around a tenner a month about 3 months ago.

Since then I have received quite a few calls from it including a tender for some commercial work which I unfortunately didn't get.

I did do  a one off clean for £60 one afternoon when I had a couple of hours spare so so far I'm up I suppose. Would just like a few more commercial jobs, but wouldn't we all!!!

Go for Yell.com it’s the only place i advertise now and i get a steady stream of domestic and commercial.

Below is a picture of a building i just put a quote in for, they got my number from Yell.com

My ad was paid for in the first month i started it (January)

Done Yellow pages as well but not as much success as yell.com

Just typed in WCers in my area & my name came up even though I thought I had only paid for an entry in the Y Pages.

I notice that some other WCers listed have info about themselves & even links to their own websites. Is that what you pay the extra for?

Yeah i pay extra to put all the info on. Good thing about the plymouth one is that there is only 4 of us that pay the extra, so we are always listed near the top of the page.

I just went on yell.com to and did a search for window cleaners in the Leeds area. There are 3 pages of them ,55  listed so I would go for the sponsored link. Then you are allways near the top of the page

Thats the main problem there are plenty of cleaners advertising in yell and yellow pages here, i will go for the sponsored to get above the free listings or it will never get seen!

We advertised in yellow pages and automatically got put onto yell.com.  We have only got the free line listing but have got a lot of work from this.  Have not really felt the need to pay for an advert luckily.
