Trevor ,
i went on the BWCA waterfed pole course about 16 months ago & found it really good.

It wasnt just the course itself that i found helpful , but just speaking to other window cleaners is what i found most helpfull & ive been running my own business for almost 18 years.

I'll tell you how it went.  Got a few photos, not very good pics though

I arrived at 9-15, after getting lost, but not too much.  First impressions were...good.  It was a proper place that was for training, had facilities ect.  Not sure what I was expecting, maybe a warehouse or something but it wasnt like that.

The training area is in an upstairs bit, but I didnt really get a good pic of it. felt a bit of a prat taking photos to be honest so just did it quickly as poss.

Part of it was inside and part of it was outside using the poles.  One thing I never realised was that there was so many different types of poles.  I had a go at using lots of them, the unger pole, ergoleght, tucker, facelift.  Bit annoyed though now because i want a different pole to the one I have so money will need to be spent

It was good. I liked it, learned a load of stuff I wish I'd known when I started wfp like how to rinse and technique etc.  problem windows.

archer is right its very handy to talk to other window cleaners.  We all had a good looksie in each others vans.  Some very smart stuff out there, I had no idea.

It was very good.  I now have a much better idea of what I'm looking for when I get my new system which will be pretty soon.

Got a certificate and also got joined up to the clear choice thing.  If i'd known she was going to take my photo I'd have made more effort so thats my tip-take your hairbrush.

I'm prob gonna book on the marketing one next, now I know what to expect i think it will be good as well.

Inside the Centre and outside doing the training

See all those windows on the inside, we didnt use them at all because their for the skills course for the beginers to practice

Another Outside one

And the pack I got when the course was finished.  My membership card with my scruffy looking mug on it.  But the girl said if Ireally didnt like it I could send another photo in and she'd do it again so will def be doing that.

Hello John

i'm not new to wfp, been using it for a good while now but yes I did learn plenty stuff I didnt know before.  And got to use lots of different poles to the one I normally use.

ALso I am wanting a bigger better system so it has helped me understand better what I need to look for.  Mainly though, its time for me to get into more commercial work like pubs and nursing homes and I wanted to be able to show that I knwo what I'm doing.

There was a bloke on the course who never done windows before and aslo did the skills course, where you learn how to squeegee and use scraper and all that.  He liked it but would be no use for me because I already know, but the waterfed one taught me a lot.

for a hundred quid you cant really go wrong can you.  I'll def be doing the marketing one next I think.

I went on the course in December '05.  I found it helpful.  I would have preferred a bit higher practical to theory ratio but it was quite well structured and it was a one day course so couldn't cover everything.  Have they still got that window inside with the guttering underneath it that recycles the water back around to the tank?  I thought that was quite novel and wished the real world could work like that  :)
I think it is better to do this course when you have already started with WFP and are still getting the hang of it.
It was worth doing.
Although their wasn't any "in your face" hard sell of Ionic equipment, I did detect some subliminal stuff going on but hey - it's business.
I think it was worth the money and it was nice to have a day out.

Is the Clear choice membership part of the package, or do you have to pay extra

clear choice membership came with the course.  Normally i think it costs extra but you get it free for a year when you do a course.
