Hello!
Would some of you NCCA members mind telling me something?
Like your trade association, our window cleaning federation (the NFMW&GC) is sponsoring Windex, the sister event to Carpex. However, I am a little concerned that our Fed hasn't written to members to tell them about the event, or even commented on it the trade magazine.
Bizarrely, a full page advert for "Carpex" appeared (in the window-cleaning magazine) but there was no reference whatsoever to Windex! In fact, I found out about Windex from this forum, not the federation. I would have expected at least a feature article.
So could you tell me, did the NCCA promote Carpex well enough, did you hear about it from them? I notice there's a prominent link to the event's site on the NCCA homepage. Or was it like our federation, who havent publicized it at all (despite being a sponsor)?
I just want to know if I'm being unreasonable.
Thanks guys

Hi Philip
Replying to your question as an NCCA member, without the more intimate knowledge of an NCCA Director, my understanding is this. The shows have been organised by Turret RAI and sponsored by our particular associations. Turret Rai have invested considerable resources in the venture and promote/advertise the events aggresively. I suspect the largest printed promotion comes through their trade journal Cleaning and Maintenance
The NCCA have, in recent times, been undergoing considerable change and have adopted a more aggressive approach to marketing it's brand name along with much of the Association's activities, hence their independant promotion of the event. As for the circumstances surrounding the NFMW&GC, that's an issue you would need to take up with them.
As for where did the knowledge of the event come from, for myself, I heard about it through the NCCA. I can't remember whether or not it was discussed very loosely at our AGM in 2003, but I have been aware of the project for about a year. As an active NCCA Member, I do tend to be more aware of things that are happening than most. Are you being unreasonable? No!
Safe and happy cleaning:)

Hi Phillip
I am surprised that you feel that the Window Cleaners Federation has not publicised the event sufficiently.
The advertisements / publicity I have seen for the last month or so have been joint NCCA and Window cleaning.
CARPEX/WINDEX
The information has been in 'all' the Trade Magazines for several months now and I am currently being bombarded by booking leaflets as you would expect.
To be fair to your Federation, Turret Rai are the show organisers and the publicity side is mainly down to them with assistance, of course, from the joint organisers.
We have arranged the seminars etc.
I can only speak for the NCCA when I say we have have promoted the show on every occasion
It is an event not to be missed... these boards are popular with cleaners as ideas, tips etc can be exchanged freely... a show such as this allows us to meet face to face
Apart from a darned good show and the opportunity to have a look at all the machines, equipment and chemicals the most important thing is the social intercourse between cleaners.
Everyone in our industry 'should' be there... its a good two days away from the hum drum stress of business life, the bit I like is... its all tax deductable
See you all there

Hello Phillip,
I am both a member of the NCCA and NFMWC&GC, and yes, you seem to be correct. I have just checked the July 2004 edition of Window Talk and there is a full page ad for Carpex on page 10 but no mention of Windex.
What's that all about then?
It's a pity because the rest of the mag is so professional.

Just speculation but isnt that what Newspapers do all time.
Perhaps the show was meant to be just for Carpet Cleaners but the organisers could not sell all the space so they decided to include Window Cleaners aswell.
I thought the Window Cleaners had their confrence a few months ago.

Ian
The organisers tried to link the NCCA show up with another one or maybe two shows right from the outset.
This was to achieve a crossover of potential buyers for the exhibitors therefore making it a much larger show and more appealing... good business sense really and a win, win situation for all....after all it has provided 'free' entrance for us all plus 'free' seminars...can't be bad
See you there

Exactly what I thought.
Many Window Cleaners become Carpet Cleaners.
Have to Link Up with Blinds and Shutters next year ;D ;D

Ian
I am already half 'blind' so I had better 'shutter' up ;D
Derek

Hope to see you there Dereck but if you are half blind you will only see my other half.

So long as your 'other half' is better looking than yourself... I shall look forward to it ;) ;D
Hope to see you at the show... When you are getting old (like me) then one of the problems that develop are memory lapses... or 'senior moments' as the/we aged term it.
I can remember faces but names sometimes escape me...please take pity on me and speak to me at the show.. they tell me I am completely harmless so long as you don't feed me ;D

Ok Ian,
Once I get inside, I'll ask the trumpeters if they will stay on a bit longer till you arive - If it's raining they may wish to roll up the red carpet though ;D

Road traffic acident hold up on 406 meant I arrived late and missed Seminar on The Future of Carpet Cleaning
Never mind enjoyed the day and so did Jenny.
Derek called me a Gentleman three times.
