I'd give it a 7.
It's good enough to get away with most of the time, but better result than squeegeeing?
Never.

Very happy with the change, although had you asked me when we were going THROUGH the change over I would have said - 10.
We still have the odd job thats traditional as well as all the inside cleans. Now they are nice to do just for a change back to the good old ways.
-
lol, yup Love Window Cleaning, hehe
-
HI all
I would give it a 7. This is because I am new to it all and are still having some windows that give me problems. Mainly old soap coming out of them ( does anyone have this problem and how do you clean them with wfp ) all so I have not got a van, so I have to keep coming back to refill.
As for the results I would give it 9.
When I was trade all my customers were happy.
but now my customers say to me that the windows stay cleaner longer and they sparkle I would not say this is a step back..

I spent 6 grand on an omnipole system 4 years ago and used it for 3 years solid. I have sinced changed back to traditional and have never been happier! I just got sick of hearing the sound of my own voice banging on to anxious customers about pure water technology and h&s stuff, and finally realised that the reason I had made a lot of money using it was that I was very good at talking customers into accepting a system they really didn't like. One day I just decided I'd had enough of doing it, got my ladders out (which never freeze or break down!) and Ive since had the stress free life of satisifed customers and no complaints I used to enjoy! Its also been unbelievable the amount of business that has come my way on the estates I work from disgruntled reach and wash customers sick of having their house drenched, their plants ripped up by hoses, and their windows left dripping wet.
Im sitting pretty until one of us falls of our ladders!!!! Any body else hate reach and wash or is it just me the idiot! ::)

im happy finish full time job friday, mon start cleaning fulltime
:) :) :)

I happy with the results most jobs perfect but there is always those jobs that you know would not be as good but still acceptible.
What i really want is a round of bungalows no ladders no WFP for me that would be perfect.

I've never done Trad but find wfp enjoyable but very frustrating as I don't know if its perfect when I go. Brilliant for other cleans like facias, guttering and gable ends.
-
I like doing WFP and the customers like it. I have only ever knowingly lost one customer to it and another one maybe. I still find the water preparation a bit of a hassle and its a drag filling containers in the evening.
I will always find it hard to walk away and leave the windows wet, that isn't going to change.
Life moves on and things change. Live for the present and that means WFP I often have to remind myself that I am in window cleaning to make money, nothing else really matters, try not to get sidetracked and bogged down worrying about stuff thats not important. Stay focussed.
-
As far as the results go I can't fault the system really; my only gripe is when I'm cleaning flat windows and the people below my customers have their windows open, or just moan when their windows get wet too. One lady gets a free clean just for letting me walk in her garden to clean the three flats above her place!!
Overall I find this method MUCH quicker, with good results and the potential to pick up work you'd never be able to do with a ladder, such as four and five story work.
We still use a mop and squeegie for some work, but the ladders are mostly just ornaments now, just there so my van looks like a window cleaners van!!!
-
Happy...for the most part I am happy...WFP leaves me with many doubts...ie, are they clean, have I missed bits, etc, etc....
I also battle my own ego, in the past I had jobs where being seen as bigger, better, more cash to flash were how you were judged... I do hang onto those for some unknown reason...not that I would want to be in that world again...but from time to time I am embrassed to be a window cleaner....please don't start chopping me down..I am just being honest about me..I am not making any judgements about anyone else...and then on some days I am King of the world....
Yes I have 2 weeks where I am making very, very good money and then the following 4 are ok and the last 2 I have very little...but all in all even when those weeks are all full and I have more work than I can cope with...It will not be the money that makes me happy but my own perception of myself and how I think the world see's me....
It is easy to say stuff the world and let them think what they wish, I suppose I am getting soft in my old age (39!!!) but these things do bother me....
So happy some days and no so on others....
Cheers
Dave.

Off tangent a bit, but I can see where your coming from Dave, what gets me down is that you get the feeling that customers couldn't give a toss about you sometimes. If you don't collect they won't contact you to offer to pay. If you phone to ask them to unlock the gate, they forget etc. Mind you I did a house the other day and the guy said he wished he had the guts to do what I was doing and be his own boss.
-
I agree with you Davew This is a low self esteem job to some people. People treat you like "Oh its only the window cleaner"
I think thats why we gather on this forum. Here you have a bit of respect from the other members.

Everbody's life falls into compartments.
When you are driving your van you are a van driver.
When you are on the computer doing George debts and work schedules you are an administrator.
Door knocking and leafleting you're a salesman
Paying in buying products figuring to expand you're a small business man.
Okay, when you clean windows that's what you are.
Any job or proffession has similar. Doctors for instance have a lot of abuse, and they have to put their fingers up places worse than gutters.Ditto Teachers.

Ha Ha I like that about doctors! ;D ;D
