Anyone know the proper way to repair a cracked carbon fishing pole? Or do I just bin it?
-
Contact Scott at esselle pole repairs on 07759678774.
He is very reasonable and speedy. The pole will be fully usable and if anything stronger than before.

Thanks Alex, but it's only my cheapo pole so might do it myself when I work it out. (wouldn't try it on my Superlight)

If it's your 'cheapo' pole then duck tape put length-ways over the split and then wrapped round radially will usually hold.

Sorry, I'm not here with a solution, looking for help myself.
The top plastic screw part of my carbon pole snapped the other day & I need to fix it for tuesday somehow :( I have araldite glue here but I'm sceptical it will actually hold with where the break is. Here's pics, anyone got any ideas ? Reckon I can just araldite it together ???

You'll need to insert a little wooden dowel (or something similar) before bonding it together, or, you can buy a new screw end, saw off the end of your carbon pole and bond in the new screw end.

What about a fibreglass repair kit to make the dowel? I've never used the kits, going to buy one now to see if it might work.

why are fishing poles being used if they snap so easy surley it makes more sense to buy a "proper" pole

Tom, there are many 'proper' poles out there. Yes you wont go wrong with a Facelift but do you have around six hundred pounds to spend? You could use fibreglass but at over twenty four feet you'll need arms like legs to reach over conservatories. Yes you can break a facelift down to make a shorter lighter pole but not instantly. If your starting out I suggest you talk to people like Alex Gardiner they have been in the trade a while and know whats best if you tell them your budget. I would say start fairly cheaply then after a couple of months you will know what you need (not what someone else tells you). For me it's fishing poles I like modular, I like the lightest weight and I like the price of some but they are stupidly fragile but I don't have six hundred pounds lying around and couldn't justify spending it at the moment. I might also add it would depend on the type of work you have in mind and that there are some new hybrid poles about that might fit the bill. All down to your budget really.

Alex, ever tried whipping a pole much like the eyes on a fishing rod?

I've never tried it but know others that have and it does strengthen the pole.
