Post by: nat1 on June 04, 2007, 10:41:28 pm
[b]Hi All,

Just wondered if there is a NVQ course for Cleaning/Health & Safety, I am at present just doing domestic cleans but I am hoping to go into Office/industrial but want alot more knowledge regarding products etc.  Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks

Hi Nat

I'm not sure if there is an NVQ in cleaning but I worked as a Care Manager for nearly 10 years and they tried and tried to get me to do NVQ's but after seeing them I nearly fell about laughing and decided to go to uni instead. Don't get me wrong here, thousands of people do them every year especially in the care industry and it's certainly not that I think or thought I was better than them I just wasn't willing to put my efforts into something that I didn't consider worthwhile for an extra 10p per hour. If you want to learn more about health and safety and the likes I'd advise you to phone your local college to see what they have on offer- I know my local metropolitan college offers quite a big range of courses in this sort of stuff. Hope this helps.
