Title: Anyone use Tucker Poles?
Post by: mickwc on May 25, 2007, 04:23:47 pm
I'm thinking of getting a couple of tucker poles and was wondering what people who use them think of them. My round is mainly domestic and i'm thinking of getting a 18ft + 40ft pole and maybe one of the little jnr poles. Any advice good or bad will be heplful. Want to make sure i'm buying right as its alot of money.

Thanks

Hi,

I have always used one. I got a 45ft double hose from the states.Modified to single hose.Use first three sections90% of the time and add extra sections as and when there needed.Mine gets knocked around stood on etc and I have had no probs at all. And the brushes  are the b******s.

Thanks for that, does it take long to add and remove sections? Maybe i only need one pole then?

mickwc, just buy one pole 45ft and break it down when needed,i would also buy a butt ring to fit the 20ft pole,if you can afford it have a pole fitted with the new pennel clamps, will make the job easier,i have just bought a mini pole which pennel clamps, cost extra but well worth the money.

Can't faullt their poles as they are well built with excellent brush heads. Make sure you buy one with the pennel clamps fitted rather than the worm gear clamps because it's easier and quicker to raise / lower. Also search on google for some electrical heat shrink wrap and with a heat gun apply to the base section to keep your hands warmer in the winter whilst holding the aluminium pole.

Is there anywhere you can buy just the pennel clamps and can an older tucker pole be retrofitted

Pat, you can buy a full set of clamps with all the gear you need to fit them from Aquafactors. For a 45ft pole the kit costs £99.70.

Mick

I,ve used Tucker for 4 1/2 years & still think they are the best for heavy duty or employee use. I,ve converted all poles to pennel clamps & have them on 3 vans, we do use other poles aswell but quality of use & brush is the best.

Alot depends on money & brush, but, the cheap g/fibre poles burn out fast. on everyday use, some have converted to salmon or gazh20 brush,s i,ve got one to try but not used it yet.

You just need the work to warrant the investment.

Any chance of a pic as the one I have is about 20 years old but was only used for a week, just wondering what you did to modify it
