The main thing is to ensure you have good access for supply of products.
If Ashbys is easy for you to get to then as far as I know they are ok then I would use them. Obviously with the internet it is now much easier to get products but it is also good to build up a relationship with a local supplier.
Personally I live about 6 miles from Chemspec Head Office so I go there as it is far easier to just bob in rather than have to buy on the internet. You can also bend there ear over problems/new products etc.

As Darren says it depends on where you live.
I'm pretty much out in the sticks so its mostly on-line mail order for purchases. I have used a number of suppliers and in all honesty wouldnt say any of the people I have dealt with are slow to deliver and 99/100 its next day.
However, there are variations on prices, delivery charges and minimum order quantities for free delivery, so keep an eye out for bottom line.

i used ashbys stuff for about a year.................then decided to change and look and something else...................
not saying that they were not good (still use cleaning powder untill all gone)
but some products are not as good as others!!

NO ONE USE ASHBYS CHEMS THEN !!!!!???? ??? ???

I use their fabric protectors, degreaser and spotters.

I like dealing with Ashby's and use some of their Chemicals, They also stock a good range of Prochem and Stapro products amongst others. You also can get very good advice whilst there. However I do not want to pay carriage on my small one off needs and I am not disciplined enough to order in £100 amounts which I believe avoids the carriage charge.
So if I am going to their Dartford office for equipment needs / repair I will buy chemicals from there. If not I use a local supplier who gives me a 15 % discount.
