Hi all
I am having trouble deciding on when to rotate my leafleting areas for optimum results, im thinking about every 6 - 8 weeks, but dont want to gamble money on not getting as many calls as i did last time. What do you marketing geniuses ;) reckon i should do.
i am leafleting 10.000 house's per 4 weeks(2500 per week), . My segment (field) is 20.000 houses, so you can see that i am going to be going back in around 8 weeks, should i extend my territory or just hit the same homes or even drop the size of my segment (field) and go back sooner for optimum results?
Any thoughts or comments are most welcome
Regards
John

3 months seems to work well here.
It's a case of suck-it-and-see and do what works in your area.
So...in answer to your question..expand your field slightly and see what happens.

I say 6mths would be the shortest gap, cant believe people do 8 monthly, it just plain don't work for me.

guys
one question to remember with regards this is that most of sell more than one service, you can rotate these services. so say you clean leather, carpets and fabric upholstery, by giving the lion share on your leaflet you can promote each every 3 mts to the same area.

Hi
When i looked at a Franchise they said the area alotted was 40,000 homes.
But if your doing 20,000 i dont think every 8 weeks will do any harm.

Whats your response rate?

Davep
my response is around the 0.25% - 0.5%,
Thanks for your input everyone, i think i'll bite the bullet and go back over my territory every 8 weeks. and just monitor the response rate!

Hello there John
I have never really considered using leaflets in our advertising, but if you are getting say 0.25% thats 50 jobs thats ok isn't it?
If that was me we would make a minimum of £3750 not bad eh!! I might give it a bash

% are good money money back is better, like Stuart has just more or less said look at the money spent to money back and work out your avaerage sized job.

When monitoring your response remember to take into consideration the amount of leaflets that the distribution company don't deliver.
When I started up in 99 I was infod by a mate that he received 3 of the same flyer. You'd be amazed how many jobs you get from1k if you deliver them yourself (preferably very early before first job)

2,500 leaflets a week is 10 hours work to deliever so if you get 2 jobs per thousand (realistic i think) plus £30 cost of leaflets = 5 jobs
break it down further its 2 hours leafleting and £6 per job
;D

Trust me, if u deliver them yourself you will get more than 2 jobs per k.
Self delivery of flyers can be very profitable if planned properly (ie flyer design, area, distribution breaks and a referral program)

and trust me sometimes u can deliver yourself and get nil responce
-
Will,
I do deliver myself, not much these days though, my response is 2 jobs per thousand, whats your reponse?
maybe im doing somthing wrong, lol
infact somtimes as Paul says i get nil, so when i do go canvassing i cant help thinking im wasting my time, lol
-
Well I get 20 jobs per k. :o
No seriously I average 5 jobs per k. I deliver 200 per day and get one phone call a day from that days delivery. Ofcourse sometimes you may not get a phone call from flyers for 2-3 days then you may get 3 calls at once (happened to me last fri evening). I know it can be soul destroying especially in inclement weather but if you are persistant and keep plugging away delivering to the same areas every 2 months then it eventually pays off.
When I first started out years ago I was only getting 1-2 jobs per k but over the years this has increased to 5. I believe if you keep your basic design the same then you become synonomous (sp) in peoples minds with carpet cleaning.
It just takes time.
