Title: High Level Cleaning
Post by: mgba_78 on May 18, 2007, 09:35:50 pm
Evening

An off chance conversation with one of customers today led to the cost of high level window cleaning, i mean the sort that you have to abseil to be able to do.

Due to the risk there is obviously very very good money involved in this and this is something we are toying with the possibility of doing.
Is there anyone on here that does this, if so what would one need to do to start in this line.
We are not afraid of heights (i suppose it would be different on top of a 200ft building) and have had some very basic abseil experience but do we need some kind of certificate as proof of training etc etc, and cost of eqipment, insurance etc etc would be good.

we do quite a bit of Abseiling here in the US, I dont know a lot about the protocols involved over there other than I believe you dont need a certificate to start doing it, but most customers may demand some proof of training from a reputable training facility eg IRATA
the one bit of advice I could give you if you are going to get into it is to learn to squeegee really well with both hands
And start off on a smaller building to get used to it ,as even though it doesn't really matter what height you fall from its easier to get your head around a lower height to begin with

mgba, e mail me and I'll give you loads of information on the certs required etc. Pat is right about getting trained by an IRATA company. Look through some of my old posts cause I'm sure this has been asked before, but get in touch if you need more info.
Hi Pat :)
