Title: Carpets Vaxed
Post by: maid4u on May 07, 2007, 08:58:59 pm
I made the mistake of borrowing my neighbours vax to clean my carpets (yes I know but I'm completely new to cleaning) My carpet some few weeks later is now more dirty and stained than ever before. What price have you got to pay for a decent enough machine on a budget so I can rectify this?

Check the articles for sale section where you will get a secondhand machine for half or less the original price

On a budget...how much is your budget?

Something like a Numatic GVE370 "George" would do the trick. Your local machine mart will have them in stock at around £175+VAT, cheaper (~£150) from some online stores.

Failing that, there are some cheap secondhand professional machines about. Check out the For Sale section of this website, or ebay.

Its not just the machine that you used, but the chemicals and your technique.

Employ an NCCA trained carpet cleaner. Tell him what you used and ask him to do an "acidic rinse" on your carpet.

oh!!! another one who assumes only ncca trained carpet cleaners are the only ones who can clean correctly :)

this carpet was last cleaned by a ncca c/c
and I might add supposedly the best in the area " his words , not the custys "  :)

yes I managed to remove the said rust marks

You may not know the whole story...the previous cleaner may have used protectors and the customer removed them too early.

I caught a customer removing my protectors as I was packing up a few months ago this after explaining to her why they were there AND leaving written instructions.

This could have been a similar sitaution for me..

Moral: don't always jump to conclusions...We are all tempted to at times

Derick,
that was an assuption I made when removing the suite, custy insisted nothing was put underneath, and were in exactly the same position from when he had left. A very heavy suite , as you can perhaps tell my the indentations. Maybe it was just to heavy for him  :)

Its always difficult to recommend a carpet cleaning company to someone that is not in your own area. At least by telling them to go for an NCCA member you know that they have had SOME training !

I am not a member of the NCCA myself.

With regard to the rust mark in your picture. Did the customer contact the original carpet cleaning company to rectify the problem first ?

Rust is not a difficult stain to remove.

I have also seen many customers moving furniture from on tabs and blocks while the carpet is still damp, they just dont listen !
