I had a very basic demo of the Envirodri system at the Kent 20/20 exhibition 10 days ago (I think the Business Link and others host this event). Their system looks good and the salespeople were very enthusiastic, but I was told the machine can do a deep clean, which I think could be disputed by some of the Truck Mounters who were also exhibiting. Should I go ahead and buy the new E40 at about £850 + VAT and hope this offers a serious clean add-on to my HWE ? I accept that only general advice can be offered.

Firstly Pete, the E40 is a superb machine for agitating pre-spray when cleaning by HWE. It wasn't designed for this purpose but it's light years ahead of the "starter" machines from other suppliers. Would probably invalidate a warranty though in this use, but it's what most of us buy the E30/E40 for.
Dry extraction cleaning compounds these days are considerably superior to when I used it a lot for maintenance work, but even back then it was an excellent system if it was used correctly and for the right reasons. These days I use dry powder extraction as a problem solver rather than a system to offer my customers.
Although heavyish, I feel that the weight is of benefit in use. The only problem I have encountered is that although the softest gold bristle brushes are excellent for cleaning wool and cut pile nylon, the bristles collapse a little under the weight of the machine, making use a little cumbersome. I now use the mixed gold/white brushes to get round this problem and find they are safe and effective on everything I've come across except for loop pile wool and flotex. For these I use gold for wool and black for flotex. All brushes should be run-in first on concrete.
For my business, I therefore feel that this type of machine is an essential tool to have in the box.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Totally agree with Kens comments above. I have had the sebo duo, host and rotawash but find that the Envirodri out performed them all for aggitation of pre spray.
Also its pile lifting properies are excellent.
I found the Envirodry ok for dry cleaning using the sponges ::) ( just sawdust inpregnated with chemical). The results were good on light to medium soiled carpets but no good at all on badly stained carpets. The main problem I found was that the saw dust was a pig to get out of the carpet when vaccing an the customers said they were still pulling it out weeks later.
Note as Ken says that using it for pre spray invalidates its warrenty, and also th gearing is not covered on the warenty ( mine needed replacment after 10 months whih i had to pay for my self)
-
Paul how often did you use the machine in the 10months before the gearing went? for an industrial, professional machine I think 10 months is disgusting and would think it is 'not fit for purpose' if they only last that long.
I had a new starter working with me last week and he had a e40 and i was very impressed, i was even thinking of buying one before you just said the warranty isn't a full year.

Mike ive had mine nearly 2 years now. Before the T/M I used it on every job.Now use it about 50% of the time.
It was used for 5 days a week every week when it stopped after 10 months on a job.Sent it back to Envirodri and thet said that the right hand side gears had gone and as they are not covered on the warrenty ??? I would have to pay for the work my self £125,plus delivery costs both ways.
They also said that the nuts were rusted in and thought I had ben using it for other things raher than dry cleanin. I told them I use it mostly for aggitatiming in m/s. They tol me that using it for that totally voids all warrenty.
I also had issue with the bristles falling out of the white brushes ( the gold are ok) they told me it is because the brushes are designed and tested with only their chems/sponges and by using m/s has prob caused the nylon bristles to fall out :o.
They would not replace the brushes.
All in all dissapointing, however it is the bet machine out there by far for aggitation.

I had a demo on one of my comunal area contracts a couple of weeks ago and bought one there and then.
If you've got somewhere for a demo, give Mike Hall a ring, he's the Rep.
Wouldn't like to use it on really dirty carpets, but i never bought it for that.
I also asked Mike if using it to aggitate presprays would invalidate the warranty and he said it wouldn't, but if your concerned ask for something in writing before you buy it.
I'm not doubting what Ken or Paul said about the warranty. I'm only saying what the rep said to me.

Thanks all. As usual, great support on this forum. Any more comments would be appreciated and help me decide for sure, but as it's looking I'm ready to go for a purchase very soon.

They would not pay for any of my repairs because I void the warrenty using it gor wet aggitation.Nor would they send me new brushes. :(

Paul
Did you pay by credit card? You may have some type protection (not the top up kind not a lot of people know that)
Nylon bristles to fall out may be an inherent fault with that batch. Think you may have six years to claim.

Is Mike Hall the rep for the company or the local supplier?

Hi
I have been solely Envirodri for 3 1/2 years and I have Zero complaints.
I have come across 1 carpet in that time that I couldn't clean, could HWE of done it, don't know?
I have had my machine serviced once in that time and they supplied a machine while mine was being done (the bearings had gone) I usually use the white/ black for mine line of business.
I have done pubs, hotels & Resturants with great results & happy customers.
Hence the name of my company:
DryTech
Kind regards

As above....the Envirodri is a superb machine.
Never used it with granules, just with prespray and hwe.
I use the white brushes on most domestic and gold on finer velvet piles as the white brushes can leave brush marks on certain types of carpet which can be difficult to remove.
The black and white brushes I use on commercial.....not yet purchased the black brushes yet.
The dirt and hair etc, removed before hwe can be amazing!

Hi
Yes Art I use everything they have.
I have used the Enviromite, gum remover (excellent gear) spotter and prespray. their Body spillage powder is also excellent. Wife dropped a whole cup of coffee on our carpet yesterday and it soaked the lot up and left no stain.
