i use ettore squeegee off I fill my bucket 3/4 full of water then squeeze the bottle for 3 seconds
I never used unger My water can last me all day
-
I've used both SYR Glimmer Glean and ETTORE Squeegee Off.
I have tried using the stipulated dilution rates with both but find I have to use two, or three times as much to achieve a proper detergent effect - this gives enough suds to see what you are doing and gives good slip/slide when squeegeeing.
-
or chuck a squirt of fairy in for suds and slid it works great
-
I use gg3 not a lot of suds thou
-
squeegee off

the correct dosage for unger liquid is 100ml per 10ltr. this gives a ratio of 100/1.
I tried the unger liquid for a few days & thought it was rubbish. it smears like mad on some glass. you cant always see the smears unless you look at the glass from an angle, when the sun gets on it it's even worse, but look straight on & all seems ok. terrible stuff. on a particular window i've done for 3 years it was realy bad, smears all over, tried, tried & tried again, no better.went back to my other detergent, did it again, perfect!
for me it's (per 10ltr of water) 10ml-gg3/4 + 10ml of squeegee off. perfect in all aspects! ;)

no i change it regulary
i cant stand dirty water, dirty cloths dirty hands, and it has to stay warm
what how much do you use
-
at the very most i change my water once through the day, but with the solution i use i only have to touch the applicator in the top of the water nown again. however, if it does get dirty (first cleans, filthy farms etc) i change it right away as like yourself, i hate using dirty water. ;)

b&q's own wc liquid is the same as gg3/4
Not in our B&Q they used to sell squeegie off but now have exactly the same bottle and liquid but just renamed it under there own name.
Anyway i use squeegie off
Tried all that GG3 and 4 and think its rubbish and well over priced

you don't wash out your mop, or scrims after a cloth job or keep it wet
what about rinsing out your snotter cloth the one you wipe the sills with, that never gets a clean?

i never rinse any cloth out in my bucket because of that very reason, thats why your using so much water. have a seperate bucket for that stuff.

carry two buckets, i dont think so, so how often do you clean your wet cloth,
or w/e you use

i agree paul, gg3/4 is rubbish on its own, useless, but mixed with squeegee off or a drop of ecover you get a great working solution & there's no denying, it does make the glass gleam.

I dont use a wet cloth alex (well maybe twice a month), i use an applicator & squeegee for all my trad work with a clean scrim & sill cloth.

hmmm
do you do any leaded or Georgian windows?
-
loads of gorgian (about 50% of all my work are these) but if i dont wfp them i still use the squeegee, as for leaded, again, if not wfp then i dab the window with my applicator, rub with sill cloth then buff with scrim or microfibre. I never put a cloth, especially a dirty one in my bucket.

wel my scrim never is that dirty if i wash it out frequently. i clean out the sill cloth just before i change the water, so everything stays nice and clean,
plus if you change the water your hands dont get as cold in the winter

Twice a day I put 5 ltrs of water and a small squirt of a good quality concentrated washing up liquid in my bucket and keep a 5 ltr container of clean water in the boot of my car in case I need it, which more often than not I don't. I've tried a number of the different dedicated window cleaner's soaps over the years and found them to all be overpriced and they don't work any better than a good quality washing up liquid.
I take out 3 or 4 clean scrims per day and put them all through a 'rinse only' cycle in the washing machine when I get home. This does me fine for most of the time with the exception of about a dozen houses that face onto a particularly dirty road. I have no idea why this road produces so much dirt but my bucket water ends up like pea soup after just 2 houses. I reckon even with WFP (oops! I mentioned it) doing these would be like doing a first clean every month. It's like a filthy brownish black soot that gets all over the frames. I dread to think what it is I'm breathing whilst I'm working along there.
With Leaded work I use an atomiser with water only (no soap), like gardeners use for their plants, to mist the windows first then scrim them twice. First to loosen and remove most of the dirt, second to polish off

what do you use to keep your water in the back. i carry a total of 40l in my car a day, 10l in each crate you know the ones with interlocking lids, green one and a grey one, and 2 10l buckets of water in the crates, this way its stays warmer longer too. and at the end of the day i use the water in the tubs for slopping out getting it all clean for the next day

The last couple of days i have been puttng a good 3 second sqeeuze into a 3/4 full bucket and a good dollup of swarfega de greaser , the blade is sliding like never before!
