Title: Too heavy for a woman
Post by: Chris Cottrell on April 30, 2007, 09:03:45 pm
Without being sexist do you think an 18' universal pole is too heavy for the delicate little being that is known as Paula my wife ?
she uses a 12' 3x4' section universal most of the time with no problems at all but every now and then we come across a situation where it would be better for us both to be using 2x18' poles 1 front and 1 rear and it confuses the situation what with having to do tops myself front and rear and Paula doing bottoms front and rear
She did try the carbon modular pole a few days ago and to be honest I was expecting her to say wow that's light but no she thought that lifting it off the glass at the angle we need on these dormers to rinse made the pole too heavy for her to use it was fine whilst on the glass but moving from window to window was too much

your thoughts greatly appreciated

Chris

I find it frustating sometimes that Paula cant do with the 18' cause I use it most of the day and think its just the job, granted its a bit of a handful fully extended reaching over a conservatory but then not every window is at an angle

Have you thought about a 4 x 4ft, I use one all day long with a light broom head on it, next to no weight and is long enough for all normal houses.

My misses uses a 3x4ft pole all the time no problems, sometimes she uses a 4x5ft pole but it is  bit of a struggle for her and only on fairly simple windows no over the conservatory jobs.

Your asking the wrong people really as we don't know what your wife can lift.  Tread carefully though as you might be cooking your own dinners for a while if you do the wrong thing.

I think the wives that go to work with us are a great thing, I wouldn't be without mine.

Chris

We can't have it all ways, we can't have dainty little wives that are pleasing to the eyes but are also able to lift stuff and throw about their weight like Big Daddy or the Giant Haystack could.  I know what I would prefer.

she'd be better off with an 18ft extender, much lighter.

The new 18ft Xtel will probably be the pole for her 4x short sections and only weighs 1.3kg. Couple this with a lightweight brush and she's sorted (whatever her strength).

The X-Tel range are on our website in the section 'The water fed pole shop'

The 18ft with a Super-Lite brush would be £75.20 plus carriage and the dreaded VAT comes to a total of £105.99

We do not have this size in stock but it will be coming shortly.
