I didn't make it to the Fed show. Anything interesting?
I've heard a little about Peter Fogwills pole and trolley - what's the deal on that? Don't see anything on his website about it.
-
Peter Fogwills new poles are very impressive.Stronger than fishing poles and a complete new concept in raising and lowering the pole from height. Will take
Practise but its something for the future I`m sure. The added bonus is they can be
Locked at height when working.

i tried peters pole today it can take a bit of getting used to but is pretty good it was mentioned it can be locked at height this is done by holding the feed pipe and i think this could be improved on by a fixing clamp, also the brush tends to spin when moving from window to window which can be a bit of a pain but this is something peter knows about and already has a way of fixing on the next model , when he demonstrated it he sort of extends the pole by throwing it up (which is the only way i can think of describing it) but i found the best way of extending the pole was to push the feed pipe . the pole is brilliant to handle and and manouvre and because it is only about 4ft long when not extended is much easier to carry about with the trolley it still needs a bit of work but this could be the way to go . ps the pole is very light and extremely sturdy .

Sounds interesting...any chance of some pics?
From what I understand of your posts you extend it by pushing the internal feed pipe through the pole? and then to lower it I guess you'd pull the feed pipe back out?
Or is that not it?

I have done a bit of video footage of the pole and I will post a link very shortly.
Like Trevor says you sort of throw it up, and it is held in position by the feed hose.
To lower you let the feed hose slide through your fingers controlling it on the way down.

hi Peter i have just tried to call you, can you mail me more info about the pole and the brush that comes with it ( weight, cost, etc...) thank you
-
There is some footage of my pole at my window-tools site under the heading of "What percentage at what height?" in the water fed pole section. I would have posted the link here but I don't think it is allowed?
Peter

Peter,
I'm really interested in your pole:
this sounds great (from your website):
Comes complete with pole hose and Autobrush.
Brush sizes available 9" 12" or 15".
The fastest pole you will ever use.
No clamps needing renewed, or breaking.
It goes up and down in seconds.
Light as a feather, you can lift and use with one hand.
Time saving with the pole, and water saving with the Autobrush
But the link didn't work!
I'm sure you can post one here; loads of other suppliers have; so I'd love to see it.
-
when he demonstrated it he sort of extends the pole by throwing it up
A pop up pole that would be great ;D
Just downloading the video to have a look

Well here goes, if it's not allowed I will soon find out. http://www.window-tools.com/images/newpole.asf I will try and reduce the size of the file so that it loads quicker.
The first part of the clip is just to show how you can put it up conventionally, it can be put to any size this way and then extended, or just put up the way it shows in the next part.

The download works, it took over three minutes.
I didn't really understand what I was watching. How did you put the pole up, it seemed to go up itself, and then when you wanted it to it concertined down.
How much is a pole like this?
Would it be rigid enought to go over conservatories?

It has been described as shunted up, and also as pushed up. Watch the arm movement. It takes a few minutes practice to master but it is easy, even my 12 year old boy can do it. The hose is held to keep it in position while extended, and the hose is released to lower it. As it is so easy to put up and lower down it means that you can lower it more often instead of wrestling with clothes lines and trees. It can even be extended up through a gap in tree branches. While I am at it the other advantages are one pole does bottoms and tops, with no need to add sections for conservatory roofs. Goes in the back of a small van, and is easy to carry around.
It is rigid enough to go over conservatories.

Revolutionary!
Can see that would be a lot quicker! How much are they? and what lengths do they come in?
-
Mike, I will be selling the pole plus Autobrush fitted for £159.50, but only a certain amount at that price to get some feedback etc on them. The mark 2 when available will be priced accordingly depending on manufacturing costs and demand.
Peter

peter when wiil it be ready.
darren.

If you mean the mark2 probably a couple of months. If you mean the ones I do now like on the video, they will be two weeks.

Interesting. But you could clean it in less than half the time using a squeegee!!

Not quite as safely, or as thoroughly.

I'd like to see a video of that.

I seen that video Peter and I think it looks very interesting, how high does the pole go in the first sequence and what's it made of, any idea on prices?
I meant I wouldn't mind seeing a video of a guy or girl cleaning the same place trad in 2mins 15 secs and looking so calm and collected.
Simon.
-
Sorry for the misunderstanding Simon,
The pole is 24 foot but put in sections can be added to go higher. The price including Autobrush and hose is £159.50.
It is the same pole in both parts of the clip.
I overdone they windows a bit to stop people moaning about doing them too fast.
Peter
-
Peter may well have 'overdone' the windows (I kinda guessed that too, after those last comments he had!)
But there ain't many who could still do the front of a house that fast trad...the front of a house in just over 2 minutes?
Done trad?.....I don't think so!
Well done on the pole Peter, it looks very good, and very quick in operation, if fitted with a smaller, lightweight brush there would be less flex in the pole too...it looks good though, it'll be interesting to read the feedback from users...

Peter
That's not a bad price and also a good length. I've never used the autobrush. How much does the pole weigh on its own and can you put other brushes on it?
Simon
-
The pole on it's own is 1.5kg, The heaviest brush I have used with it is the Salmon Autobrush the one that comes as standard with my system. The pole is that light that the brush can make quite a difference to the overall weight of the pole and brush. The pole will probably go up faster with a heavier brush, and there would not be much flex as you are going straight up as opposed to lifting the pole with the brush still on the ground.

Even a slow window cleaner could do the upstairs windows allowing 40sec for each, downstairs could be done in 20secs and the door in 10secs. And that is being really slugish!!!
-
Foxman, I was no slow coach at cleaning windows traditionally myself, but at the end of the working day I like to have some energy left for my wife and kids. We have been through all this in the last couple of years with Squeaky and it gets quite boring. This post is not about ladders verses poles it's about What's new. No doubt you will be on here some time in the future giving advice to water fed pole newbies.
Peter

Pete, Didn't mean to Hijack a post, just making a comment. Sometimes it's quicker using a squeegee, thats all. I've been WFP'ing for nearly 10 years so know the benifits and disadvantages.
No problem.
Would you use a squeegee on they houses?

The Autobrush can also be bought on it's own, the price is £69.00 + £3.50 deliver and VAT, and can be paid for on my site, on the Autobrush page. Yes it will fit on the Ionics pole, it would come with the plastic angle joint that would screw on to the brush. If ordering online state that it is for the Ionics pole in the comments box.

What effect does that brush have on the pump, and if so what modifications have to be made.
-
how do u stop the water? is there something u put on the hose?

You tap the left of the brush for water flow and tap it on the right to turn it off,it`s like a thin rod that sticks out each end of the brush.
-
ill order one tomo. cheers

I had the pleasure of a demonstration of Peters new pole, it was light strong and very well put together and looks like it will last.
I would say well worth the money
Peter, i liked your demo window at the show 8) what have you got up your sleve next?
regards.

Thanks Brett, It didn't look much but it took quite a bit of work.
Nothing else up my sleeve at the moment but who knows what might turn up in the future.

Hi Peter
I know it's cheeky but do you think that your pole could be configured to take Gaz's swivel brush?
Simon.
-
Hi peter,
I also heard you do a trolley system that hooks on to the tow bar.
Seen the trolley you use in the Water Fed Pole DVD but it doesn't look like it hooks on your tow bar.
Have you any pictures?

I could put a standard screw thread top on the pole, one that would accept a black plastic angle joint.

I never had much time to show the trolley at the show although I had it with me. I have a DVD I could send you if I had your address.

Hi Peter,
Hows it going mate, hope the weather in the highlands is as good as down here ;)
Amazing pole, Im very impressed.
I like the look of the fold down size, it looks like it folds/slides ??? down to a nice mini-pole size.
A pole thats quick to set-up and dismantle and cleans downstairs too, no messing about........Genius

Hi Alex, did you ever contact me regarding the jets for your brush? I looked out for a message when I got back from London but never seen it, I did have a build up of emails so could have missed it.

You will have the choice between the pole I supply now or the new one.
If anyone has emailed me I will get back to you tomorrow. I have been away since Friday and have a few hundred emails to shift through.
