i guess this is only for the people who employ others

what PC program do you use for the wages etc etc

I use Sage accounts plus I think it was about £180 but it doesn't do any PAYE. I think the ones that do are about a grand.
You can get Sage courses online and they are very interesting. Education is never wasted.

We use Sage but I am sure Quickbooks do PAYE software as well.

Why dont you use your accountant???
mine does the PAYE aswell and it only costs me £1.50 per month per staff, as far as im concern that its value for money as i only have to worrie about giving him the hrs and he does the rest ( except paying there wages :'( ::) ) :)

If you register as a new Employer with HM Revenue & Customs  they send you a  Employer pack and it has  CD with  everything you need on it
