what would you pay for a round which produced £50k profit per year, ?

yes profit after all expenses paid.

by what you are talking about that would make the round worht between £5k and £10k

the normal price in and around the manchester area for the 18 years i have been running my own business is x 10 for fortnightly work , x 5 for monthly .......... i am currently looking to buy more work in the bolton area and i am well prepared to pay 10 cleans for it , maybe more if its v good work.......
i dont know how many window cleaners there are up & down the country , but there are so many window cleaners around bolton/manchester - obviously everyone wants good work so the price goes up and up..
example being someone is selling a commercial round in bristol for £5,000 which takes £1,000 per month = if that work was in the areas im looking to buy more work , firstly it would probebly be sold within first couple of hours it was advertised and secondly for alot more than £5,000........
i would say more in the £10,000 plus bracket , so it all depends where you are, where the work is and most importantly WHAT YOU ARE PREPARED TO PAY......

That`s exactly what i was thinking and if it`s a genuine business that really does produce those figures then the prices people are quoting are miles off, these kind of rounds are like rocking horse s*** and whne your talking £5-10k your talking peanuts.Blimey i saw one of those eismen food franchises for sale once and they only produce about 18-25k a year,if i`m selling a business that promises between 1-2k a week providing average weather then i`m gonna want a lot more than 5k for it.

Ive paid x10 for work around the manchester area before. Ive got work that I could sell for x15 if I wanted to get rid of it, basically this is due to competion and how well people are doing out of window cleaning.
Every1 is starting to jump on the band wagon!

Nice to see some realistic posts for a change.

If you were to buy a restaurant or shop etc you would pay 2 times plus the annual profit

so if a shop makes £50k profit it would be worth between £100k and £250k depending how many years it had been showing that profit.

Companies on the stock exchange sell for even bigger multiples

what would the price be for a wheelie bin cleaning business,it takes between £3.500- £4000 a month which is two weeks work with room for expansion, the man who cleans my wheelie bin is selling,he has been doing this for about 4 years, the price he wants is £25000 but no van, only the customers,i watched him clean ours and neighbours and he earned £66 for 35 minutes work, would you pay this price for this business

For 25000 i would want the van as well, thats the usual deal with wheelie bins. You buy the customers, van and a free phone number if they have one.
If you only bought the customers then you would have to go out and buy a pressure washer etc on top of your 25000

i beleive he is asking too much,i was half interested as you would only have to work 6 months to get most of your investment back,i was going to offer him £15000 but he told me he will get £25000 for his business as he sold his last wheelie clean business down in kent for £40000 before moving down here to lincolnshire.

I`ve always thought a window cleaning round should be sold on it`s ANNUAL profit levels.
The prices in Manchester are fair I believe.

he does mine my two neighbours and it takes him a couple of minutes each bin,he probably earns about £1.50 a minute,i do a lot of window cleaning in boston lincs and i bump into him on a regular basis and when i get the chance i watch him and most of his round is like that,he does earn a good living, more than i can earn from window cleaning and i am one of the most expensive window cleaners in my town.

ok boys .... after looking at all your replies and some of the outragous figures suggested for w/c rounds lets see who will put their money up
i have 4 seperate rounds in south manchester
bredbury 4 weekly clean takes £400  who will give me £6k for it?
cheadle   4 weekly takes £600.......................................£9k
stockport  4 weekly takes £450......................................£6.5k
offerton     4 weekly takes £200......................................£3k

a total of £24.5k not bad considering i paid £3,600 for it, so if anyone wants to buy i will accept £24k for cash ..... and whistle all the way to the bank

and if one of you has got really deep pockets ive got another 16 rounds for sale IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT

exactly! ive worked in mcr all my working life and never paid these extortionate rates 3 times the monthly clean is acceptable . even 4 times if the work is priced well

I once gave £40 for £60 a month worth of work :), other than that Ive never bought any other work, Ive found Im more comfortable for the customers to choose me, rather than, paying for round and then turning up to tell the customers "Im your new window cleaner" that just my personal opinion on it.

The downside of building the round yourself it that takes time, but on the other hand if you bought a round at 15 times its monthly value, yes the income starts flowing straight away, but  15  months thats a fair while before you make any profit.

r4g1t  thats good business if you can get those rounds sold :) good luck

£400 monthly would sell in Manchester for x 5 = £2000
£600................................................................ = £3000
£450................................................................ = £2250
£200................................................................ = £1000

David, I see no reason why a developed round bringing the purchaser a cash rich monthly income of say, £2500 every 4 weeks from day 1...£30,000 per annum with 4 weeks off...should not be selling for at least £30,000.
If a newsagent sold for 3 times the monthly profit...the size of the queue would make national news.
Window cleaners in the past have made this rule about 3/5 x the monthly income...why do we, in this age, need to live with it?
I`m not sure anyone would buy at that price but unless people start taking their business worth seriously and start selling through business selling agents who do the job properly, we will never move on.

Sell those Manchester rounds at 3 x the monthly rate and you will have them snapped up but lose money in the process...sell them at 5 x monthly.

It depends - if that £300 of fortnightly work was spread out and I was trad. and it earned £100 per day (3 days work) - 3X

If it was top notch wfp and I could do it in one day then I would go to 10X.

It would only take me 5 months to recoup my money, then I'd be quids in.

Assuming the work checked out and I felt it would last at least a year, that is.
