Hi AGAIN...

jUST FOR INFO BECAUSE IM AT THE LOOKING STAGE. oops.

What ro systems does everyone use?... and do you have the di vessel  attached or a stand alaone di unit between water and pole.

I'm getting about 400 ltr in 24 hours  (65 psi, tap water about 240tds)  expect way more more in the warmer weather.

I use the RO-200-TDS from r/o man with a di polisher, works a treat , from water reading of roughly 275 after 3 months still getting reading of 1 from ro ,pre di ... hence resin lasting ages ... very  :)

I got a 4040 with a booster pump.  The water in is about 400 tds the water out is about 2 tds and thats at 200 ltrs an hour.  I have a 11L di vessel at the ro system to bring it down to 0.  In the van I just have tank pumps and reels.

thought we would have an abundance of replies regarding ros,..

it helps when you know what others are using to avoid any pitfalls.

for instance.... they say a ro system will remove up to 99% of everything... depending on your tap/water  pressure etc....

and then state i should get  4 to 500 litres per day at 50 plus psi for instance.... how can i tell what my psi is on my house water... is it trial and error or am i too picky. ???

Ring any decent WFP supplier and they will be more than happy to send you a loan psi pressure gauge.  This will simply plug into your outside tap and give you an accurate reading.  Also, most suppliers will be happy to loan you a TDS meter so you can accurately assess an RO's true performance.

Its dead simple. Get an RO. Plug it in and if you get low or no output you need a booster pump. They say the Merlin works at 40 PSI. Yes it does but very badly. Tragic waste output and cr+p TDS reduction at that pressure.  All RO's work better with high water pressure both in waste output and TDS reduction. You cant assume that at a certain pressure and tapwater TDS that you will get X output and TDS reduction.

Yes some RO's are capable of 99% TDS reduction but only under certain ideal conditions one of which is water temperature. Also TDS can be made up of different things which will affect perfomance.

Too true brightnclean, I got 2 membranes and one comes out at 5tds the other 2tds, no matter how I link/set them up, even reseated membrane but still same output.... its just a variable game ::)

Bright and clean, our tap pressure is 40psi, tds in is normally around 300ppm and we get 1500-2000ltrs a day at 4ppm

 is it easy to add a di 10" cartridge , to say a 5 stage ro... where would it go?

Hmmm not too bad I suppose. You are doing very well to get that out of the Merlin. A mate of mine has one and is getting rid soon. His pressure is 45 PSI. TDS in is 420 ish and he gets about the same output as you but at 40 ish TDS out and his waste is horrendous. He back flushes regularly and changes the pre filter well within the stated throughput so he is doing nothing wrong. He has had it for about 6 months and his water bill has gone crazy.

It's easy to put a 10in DI filter after an RO.  It sits between the RO and holding tank to polish off the last few TDS. You dont fit it ON the RO. Its as seperate small unit.

ok thanks... i saw one on ebay but it looked the same type of filter cannister as the rest on the ro, thats why i asked as i couldnt see where it would connect,,,, so the di must or will have hose connectors etc.... scuse me for sounding niave.

at 420ppm I would definitely recommend a water softener pre-merlin.
