Title: Spray & Go/reducing bleaches
Post by: Mike Halliday on April 16, 2007, 11:02:29 pm
I was thinking, that to neutralise reducing agents you use an alkaline solution & to neutralize a oxidising solution you use an acidic solution (and visa-versa for acceleration)

so if I clean a carpet and rinse with an alkaline solution if I then try and remove a coffee stain with spray & go I'm wasting my time because the alkaline rinse  will just cancel out the reducer.

and they same goes for using a oxidiser if I've rinsed with an acid rinse.

is this correct?

so should I rinse neutral or use bleaches before cleaning?

anyone know?

Hi Mike in the past I have found a better result with Spray  & Go if used prior to cleaning. i.e hit the stains first

I always flush any stain with plain water before applying any specific stain remover or treatment.

And always deal with individual stains before the general clean.

Tried the other way around when first started out and it just doesn't work!

Kind regards,
Jason.

I would have though that most of us will be rinsing with a neutral detergent or plain water anyway.

From a post spotting point of view it's a tough question to answer because it depends on what history a stain may got, if it has been subjected to vanish etc a plain water rinse would be done first but the real answer would be to reach for the ph paper.
