Title: ;DBe Nice To People
Post by: Mark Betts on August 30, 2004, 02:27:57 pm
Strange thing happened this morning.

I recieved a phone call this morning (bank holiday) from an irate lady enquiring why I had not turned up at 9am for the arranged appointment to clean her kitchen carpet !!!!!

After asking her a few questions it worked out that she had booked one of the local "Half Price" for 2 weeks merchants from a local book. But by coincidence 2 days after I delivered one of my leaflets to her house.

So she got me mixed up with him and called me to bollock me for not turning up.

So I gave her the number of the "half price" merchant and left her to it.

Now knowing that this guy is ultra unreliable I called her 15 minutes later to make sure she was ok. Yes she said I have called him and he got the time wrong blah blah blah he is coming at one o clock.

Then 30 minutes later she phones me back saying that as I had been so helpful could I come next week and clean her lounge carpet and also her neighbours carpet !!!!!

So from one good deed I got 2 jobs  ;D ;D

Now the moral of the story is that if I had slagged the other guy off saying he was unreliable etc etc would I have got the two jobs from her?

I doubt it.

"Be Nice To People" and you will be rewarded.

I agree...i was called to do a survey for a respectable and lovely asian couple on friday..bearing in mind that have a skin-head and look like grant mitchell..which probably frightened the life outa them, i made an extra effort to be extremely courtious and friendly. I spent 40 mins doing that survey, explaining just about every process in detail...by 10.30 that evening, i had 2 of their friends contact me to do their carpets...It does pay to conduct yourself in an appropiate manner.

could be worse- could wear a burrberry baseball cap..or a hood and sunglasses!....anyway, it may have its advantages, such as intimidating the clients into accepting the quote 8)...only kidding

How did you know it was the same ½ price person, have you only got one in your neck of the woods I have about 3 in area for two weeks?

You are right about popping at your competitors it dose not show you in a good light.

Scott is right apart from Grant Mitchell, wife/family and friends tell me I’m the most intimidating person the have met but putty in the customers hands.

I need a shave 3 days plus a number 1 that way it dose not show the bald bits!

Do what I do.

Asked barber how much for haircut?  He said £6.00

I said How much for a shave?  He said £3.00

I said "Well shave me head then "
