Title: Back Flushing R/O Help Please

Can anyone advise how to back flush ? your R/O
How often should it be done?
Straight forward laymans answers would be appreciated
(as I am useless at technical stuff)
and anyone with any pics of what you have to do would be a star !!

Somewhere on the front of your machine on top of the metal panel, should be flush valve. If there is, turn this 90 degrees and it will allow all the water to flush past your membranes, thereby cleaning them.  I personally recommend doing this for five minutes before each large tank full.

any idea what this flush valve looks like
I have the three membranes with a booster pump behind it.
There is a small black thing ? don't know what that does !
All connections seem to be john guest type push on jobs
can't see any valves ?
any ideas?
I can post a pic if that will help?
If so from the top ? side? front ?

Unless they've changed it I don't believe the Omni system had a flush valve built into the system.
I know this because I had one and had to go back because the membranes clogged up too quickly. it is possible to put one in your self though.

It is quite simple to flush the membrane even if you do not have a valve.  Simply pull out the waste pipe where it goes into the flow restrictor (about 4 inches long, 3/4 inch in diameter, usually white).  This de-restricts your waste and allows all of your input water to flow past the membranes to waste.  Let me know if you need a diagram to help you.

When producing water the valve is in the closed position so water has to hit the restrictor (this is what causes the pressure on the membranes. To flush turn the valve to open so water by passes the restrictor, washing the front of the membranes.

To create this you will need 2 tee pieces (marked 'A') some more pipework and an on'off valve.

I have fitted the flush valve today
and all seems well.
Should this have any effect on my water production or will it just prolong the life of my membranes ?
