Its easy  ;)

So far I have claimed £980 back from Lloyds for my son and I have just had another success against HSBC for my daughter, they have agreed to repay £1600 she will get this back next week.

Of course they will not accept they did any thing wrong but who cares if the moneys returned.

You must take them on you will win, they will never go to court against you.

Free banking with Alliance & Leicester, pay in at any post office, also on line banking facility.

We bank between 50 - 150 cheques a week on the window cleaning side of the business, at any other bank this would cost me around 25p a time, free at A & L

Excellent.

Paul, will have a look again for you  ;)

When you claim the money back in the first instance you will get a standard letter from your bank informing you that you knew the charges when you took out  the account so tough, if you don't like it contact the the banking ombudsman.  ::)

Ignore it; and inform them you are now issuing court proceedings for the full amount plus interest, HOWEVER you will drop the interest charge if they settle payment within 14 days,

This seems to concentrate the mind as they know they will not go to court and to even begin to defend will cost them money.

On both occasions the money was re-imbursed within the time slot with some b**L *h*T letter attached about blabbing on about,, not accepting responsibilty, with out prejudice, if it went to court they would win blah blah blah its all crap, they ripped you off and they know it.

Davep; Threat about shutting your account is just that,a threat BUT if you are concerned, and I would advise any one going down this route to take note of this,,, open another account elsewhere first then get your money and transfer it in to your new account when it comes...Same goes with threat of overdraught removal.

The site below money saving expert has a template you can use from sending out the initial letter up to, going to court, its very good  ;)

Good luck every one and screw 'em its your money they have robbed.

Both me and my wife claimed our charges back from RBS, Got the same letter as Woodman, charges were fair all that crap, They said they weren't accepting responsibility but would offer me a 'GOOD WILL' gesture of our charges minus any interest added which resulted in over three grand ;D ;D

All in all it took my wife 8 weeks and me about 10 as I was a bit lapse sending my letters out.

use moneysavingexpert.com's templates and it's just a case of sending a letter, sifting through your statements, sending another letter and watching your cash level rise..

Banks are trying to appoint a 'fair' charge of £12 instead of around £28 for charges so to get your full amount be quick, Everyone I know who has done it has been successfull

I found this article online regarding claiming business charges back for you, the process is basically the same however a bit more costly if you haven't kept all your statements

Hope this helps

Hi can I just point out that you don't need your statements,

Just ask the bank to give you your last 6 years bank charges only, it should only cost you £10.

They have to suppy them to you by law, doesn't matter whether its business account or private.

Iv just filled a court claim against Abbey on my wifes behalf, £412 they sent her a letter the other day and credited £85 back into the account, i expect the rest within a couple weeks.

Will be doing mine soon as soon as i get back on my feet and stop racking up more charges,  i reckon im looking about £2500 from that one :o
