Post by: jay foden on March 13, 2007, 04:31:27 pm
anyone recommend the best weedkiller  to stop moss and grass and weeds growings in block paving??    just as a change from sealing??   i was told too apply  it straight after cleaning ( before sanding) by someone which is fine but what about the fresh sand in the joints??  its prone to getting allsorts growing in it?

Jay,
Nothing can grow in kiln dried sand it's sterile. Thats the reason block paving is supposed to be re sanded a couple of times a year with freash dry sand.
The elements errode the sand off the drive over weeks to leave a gap in top 1/8 inch this gap in the joint fills with atmospheric dust (soil) and weed seeds and mould spores germinate in it

We always spray newly cleaned block paving with Roundup, leave it to dry out, then sand it

Jay,
Why not offer clients a mainternance plan, go back every say 2-3 months and re-spray with a good weedkiller IE round-up or simular.
Or up sell the sealing.
