Like everyone says there is loads of neg stuff about them, I read that one person wrote something nice about them,

How much did they charge you, the last offer they gave me was no set up fee and £30 a month, 6 areas, 2 genric web names and an 0845 number, I thought about having a go with them but was waiting for someone else to.

I`d be interested to know how it goes. ;D ;D

Run..run away from ufindus.  They ring me every eight weeks or so.  They lie about their service promising things they cannot delivery.  They never put the phone down first, they just argue and argue.  I dont talk to them anymore I immediatley put the phone down.  There are lots of online directories that are free and rank higher than ufindus.com like accessplace.com . Save your money.

best wishes

We had big arguments with them a couple of years ago.

The best way to find out how effective ufindus is, is to put your search on Google or whatever engine you use and see where they appear.

ie: I did a search for "Carpet cleaner Northumberland" and ufindus did not appear until page 3 (27th entry), my own site was on page 2

Local guy to me had a solicitors letter from the states as the images ufindus had used were copied from someone else's site and were subject to copyright. They told him to ignore it ::) He received yet another one and after numerous phone calls/letters they relented and changed his site.

Ufindus are nothing but another parasitic scammer out to get you to part with your hard earned cash.

If anyone rings to offer any type of web based directory or advertising be very sceptical, there a some good ones but they are by far outweighed by con artisits.  I apply the simple task of ringing 3 or 4 people allready advetising with them and ask if it works, its saved me a few quid and made me a few quid also, i takes 10 mins but could save you £300 -£400.  Im ashamed to admit that i was looking seriously at 118 trades untill i applied my test, it was very satisfying asking the sales bloke when he called back how he sleeps at night, he hung up.

Just had yet another call from them this morning, very pushy sales rep this time around, had an answer for every one of my replys, he finally got the message. Just cannot trust this type of advertising anymore.

I have had so many calls from UfindUs that I now yell as loud as I can " F*** O**" and wait for them to put the phone down - it happens fairly quickly!

As for good web advertising, try thebestof.co.uk - local, cheap, and you are two clicks from google front page. Its a franchise so may not cover all areas, but my guy in Norwich is brilliant. Came and did photos for free, ad was up and running in 4 days, and straight in to front page google. Plus the site is easy to navigate which helps custys find you! And all for £10 month, but have only been with them 3 weeks so cant guage response yet. Give them a look - www.thebestof.co.uk

And if anyone has an address for UF***Us, please go and burn their office down!!!!

How many calls have you had from it in the last 3 weeks

Early days - they are a new franchise so their advertising is still building - they start ads on local radio in next week or so. Not sure how many calls from it so far cos I,m lazy and dont always ask where the custy got my number!!! ::) And it is my quiet time of year so phone isnt ringing much anyway.

The good thing about the site is that if it isn't working for you, just cancel the standing order and they drop you from the site - no tie ins. I will keep it going for 6 months and see what work it generates (If I remeber to ask!) Got to be worth £60 hasn't it?
Will keep you posted.

P.S. If anyone else is using them let us know if they are working for you.

We use em, we had to pay a one off £50 set up as well as the £10 + VAT per month, id say weve had a couple of jobs from it over last 6 months, but one was a commercial so more than paid for it, if it wasnt for this i think i may have dropped them by now.

Ufindus are based in Glasgow, they used to be called IOMART, but I believe that business was getting a bad reputation so they changed to UFINDUS.

I would expect them to change their name again soon and attack us all from a different guise.

Beware they are all out to get your money and give you little or nothing back.

The other ones to beware of are those advertising space on wall planners or desk pads, normally for charities (just to pull on your heart strings!!)

Have the same thing Paul, but in my case there are calling to thank me for my support as the items are going out soon and so would my invoice, told em i never signed nothing and will be paying nothing, they say i agreed on the phone (know for a fact i didnt as i never agree to anything without half an hour checking it out) and we have a verbal contract, when i ask them to replay the conversation they dont have it so.  I told them if they are daft enough to print something with my advertising details on without getting me to sign something then its thier own fault, they ussually hang up around this point.  What angers me about this is that they are damanging the reputation of genuine charities and also the assumption that im stupid enough to fall for it.  Anyway Rant over.....death to UFINDUS also.
