Post by: rice on March 02, 2007, 12:01:18 am
I mainly do domestic but was recently asked to do a large theatre.
they sent me out a safe working agreement requesting the above statement.what is it?do I make it up myself or apply to a third party for one. They also require 5 million public liabillity and 10 mill
employers liabillity.I`ts been a while since i`ve looked at my insurance package but this seems alot or may be i`ve just not been reading my renewal forms for the last few years.

I`m fully insured, just want to know what the norm is.also about the statement.
regards RICE.

Hi Rice. Health and Safety Policy is fairly wooly request. What you really need to send them is a Risk Assessment and Method Statement. Just list what you do and who could be put at risk by your activities, along with what you are doind to make it safer and what risk is left once you have done this. This is a Risk Assessment. Method Statement lists what you are going to do in what order, when and wher, what equipment you are using, your training and the standards you are working to eg NCCA / Health and Safety at Work Act etc.

Try going on a 1 day courseon RA - worth the time and money.

I know it's not the done thing to recommend outside the forum,.. but Madmarys forum has a couple of good documents that might help you out.
I'm nothing to do with that forum btw,.. just thought it was genuinely useful stuff
