HI
went to do a quotation today and I was stood introducing myself to the customer when along runs satan a black lab dog start barking at me and sinks his teeth into my thigh :'( (not a playfull bite) any way the dog continues trying to bite me and barking at me when it spots someone walking down the street and decided that he didnt like them either
I saw this as my chance to get back into my van (couldnt get my keys out fast enough!!) dog still barking at me and i thought "bugger this" and i drove away now the thing that is puzzling me is do i phone the police and report incident or just forget about it i mean it could have been anybody that it bit and it seems a really nasty dog so just looking for some advice really
nice bruise on my thigh drew blood a little
so come on guys what would you do?
-
Report the owners to the police, the dog should be under their control, how would you feel if you found out later that Satan had mauled a young child and the child had had to have '666' stiched in their body!!!
-
TETANUS :o
Then photos of wound and call to owner asking if they are insured.
If you end up with infection and time of........... who is going to pay your bills ???
Owners are responsible for the actions of the dog, it should have been restrained if it has a bad temperament. Once a dog gets away with drawing blood, it will most likely try it again (worse).
Me and a friend stopped a Rottweiller savaging an 8 year old boy once. Horrible to come round a corner and see dog tossing a kid from side to side by it leg. After we annoyed the dog enough by hitting it so it drpped the boy. My mate threw his jacket over its head and i hit it in face with heavy object (PM for details in case of pet loving squeemish people). Stunned dog staggered back towards owners house as police arrived. Dog put down and kid scarred for life................."dog was getting worse each time it saw kids" the owner said ::)

I was bitten by a dog whilst i was a postman, see your doctor so its on record incase you decide to claim. I got £3000 for a bite on the arm Paul
-
so i could just claim then??
-
to claim you need medical evidence
-
well as i said i reprted it to police and i think i will leave it at that as long as the dog dosnt do it to nobody else i am happy with that
-
All I will say any dog which attacked me or my family will end up in doggy heaven.

Len,
But do some times have problems then I kill them and eat them
I DO believe you ;D ;D ;D

Claim, Claim, Claim. Thats our claim society of today. People who are not are in real distress through a minor incident, looking for someone to blame so they can make some money. Pathetic in my opinion. What ever happened to the people who could take it on the chin, bite the bullet and put it down to experience. I have been bitten by dogs twice whilst going about my business - cleaned the blood off, got a tetanus shot, sore for a few days, and got on with it. Dont be a nance, get over it, move on.

I was a postman when i was awarded £3000 for a dog bite the Post Office or should i say royal mail prosecute everytime, i had no say in the matter
-
Now I know why the post hereabouts is rubbish, the posties are too busy enticing dogs to bite them! ;D ;)
-
STILL WAITING for that phonecall off the local police station 2 days later ;D
-
They are hoping you killed the dog
-
The royal Mail Have a card which is delivered to houses with dangerous dogs it says:
We are unable to deliver mail to this address due to a dangerous dog ( how does the postman deliver the card) Paul

From a post above:
Quote::
What ever happened to the people who could take it on the chin, bite the bullet and put it down to experience.
They moved down under and varied the wording.
'It bit me on the leg, I loaded the bullet and put it down'
We like to use the KISS principle.
To their credit, our local council is now coming down heavy on dogs, whether the attack humans or other animlas, make no difference, most times they are now put down.
Cheers,
Shorty.

We have a staff/lab cross who loves playing with our kids; she's an absolute softy. A few years back she was attacked by a pitbull and has since tore into any other dog she meets. Over time she's got progressively worse and no longer discriminates, if it has 4 legs its fair game. Once, whilst I was heavily pregnant, she got out and ran off into the dark woods near our house. There was no way I could run after her so I had to sit and wait. 5 minutes later my neighbours daughter came banging on the door saying our dog had ripped into their little terrier and that her dad was about to go in for a triple bypass and that the incident could have been the end of him. I was absolutely mortified and immediately apologised. We've now made sure that there is no chance for her to run off or get through any gaps in the fence or gate.
Lee, did the owner even call you to apologise? If not, I'd definitely chase the police for them to take action, as this is clearly an owner that couldn't care less.
Best regards
Cheryl

well 10 days later and 2 phoncalls to the police and i am still waiting think i might ring the local paper ;D
the police must be too busy catching speeding motorists
-
Lee ring up the police and who ever answers ask for there name and number, then ask them what there complaint procedure is, once they tell you ask for a form to be sent to you, then stand back and see how fast they do something.

Reminds me of the day I went to a job with my brand new van and the dog greeted me and the van in the driveway. I couldn't get out at first and the darn dog took his paws and jumped up on the drivers door of the van to greet me with barking and then proceeded to leaves his marks all the way down the door.
All I could hear were his scratching and barking....it was hard to get out of the van with out being jumped upon..needless to say Iwent to the custys door--no one home...except for the out of control dog...
So I got back into truck and got the heck out of the drive as fast as I could with no turning back.
I just hate it when you get a new vehicle...I swear the first scratches are always the worst!
Had to explain those were dog paw scratches on the door...a big ouch....
Down puppy down...
Gotta watch for some of those dogs....

Dog owners with problem dogs or dogs which show signs of aggresion should do 3 things, remove b#llocks :o, train so dog knows who is boss and if still unsure make it wear a muzzle.
I own a male boxer who is very gentle, loves kids and never shows any signs of getting nasty. Its a shame when a dog is put down as good owners see them as a member of the family and no dog is born evil, the owners are the ones who should pay the price and the dog rehomed somewhere it's responsibly cared for.

Paul,
I'll second you on that. We've got a 10 month old female Boxer, and in my very biased opinion, Boxers are just the funniest, friendliest and softest there are. Great with kids. There's not a day goes by without her making us :D our socks off at something daft she has done. Before anyone says it, no she hasn't wrecked the house or chewed anything, as Paul says, a bit of effort early on, and you generally have the Dog you want. :)

Our boy Barley is Ten months also, your right boxers are the quirkiest dogs and so funny not to mention intelligent, he is almost human in many of his ways and as we have put the effort in to socialise and train him i'm confident he will never behave like the dog who savaged poor old Lee.
