Title: Swivel joints (again)
Post by: AuRavelling79 on February 19, 2007, 06:38:33 pm
Why would this not work as a swivel joint?

Most brush-to-pole joints have adjustment for the angle of the brush against the window/cill.

Why not put another in series but so that it adjusts sideways (90 degrees) - would that not give you the ability to set your brush at any angle to the pole so that you could clean windows above single floor extensions or in narrow walkways (where you want to work without getting wet from directly above) from the side?

I haven't tried this except in my mind - but would it work or am I talking rubbish as usual?

yep, it works, done it today (manualy) not sure if it would work by twisting the pole though. will have to grind the teeth off & try.

As long as you have a bit of an angle, if the brush can also move on the end of the joint (maybe by slackening off the the head joint ) Then you will have the ability to control it from the ground.

Here is a joint with a fast lever joint from a cycle saddle clamp. The brush can spin on the tube and with the angle you can twist the pole in your hands and the brush will follow with the twist to whatever angle you want. But you have to have an angle a straight pole is no use. Hope this helps. (http://img63.i.us/img63/8379/p1010035iy2.th.jpg) (http://img63.i.us/my.php?image=p1010035iy2.jpg)
