Post by: Suzanne on February 19, 2007, 10:19:07 am
Hi - anyone know how to get the red dye from a christmas dog chew off a carpet?  apparently it was a dog chew in the shape of a red lollypop that the dog sicked up.  it's an old stain....  and it's a beige wool carpet...

You could try "red rx" or something along those lines, but with it being vomit as well you could be facing multiple stain problems,

the red dye is probably cochineal...........from the cochineal beetle

this is normally v.difficult to remove.......as previous post suggeted i would try red rx .....

but if custy has tried to remove with 1001 or similar you will find the stain has set and nothing will remove it!!!!

Removed this loads of times, with Prochem RD Redex.
Gently rub in ( not loads) them put a damp towel ( white) over it and place a steam iron on i and steam fo 5 secs, revome and repeat.
Stain should transfer onto towel. ;)

Paul,

I am impressed with your comments.

Does it work on Bacardi Breezer? Which I think is the ultimate test.

Depends on fibre, time and attempt to clean by customer.
Rinse first with cool water then treat as above.
There are other treatments after this dependant on circumstances.
