Title: looking at getting 45ft pole help needed please
Post by: wightsurf on February 15, 2007, 08:25:59 pm
Hi
I have a large job to do in April and am looking at getting a carbon-fibre pole at about 45ft long or would glass fibre be of any use? I use a 24 ft glass pole at the mo and think 45ft will be a bit heavy :P
Anyway does anyone have some prices or links webpages where i might get a good deal!

Thanks for any info

Martin

Hi Martin have you thought about carbon fishing poles alot of people are using them now and really like them,Alex at Gardiner poles systems sells a ready to use set up and a much more affordable option than the other poles,

under no circumstances get a GLASS fibre pole at that height...far too heavy :o

carbon fibre from any of the main suppliers.
I use Brodex.

Hi Martin,
yes you can either buy one from Gardiners or just buy a carbon fishing pole,go for a 16m one because you will have to remove the first 3 sections as they are too thin and whippy, then fit the end thread plug in the 4th section either uing strong glue or pvc tape then either use an ally fixed gooseneck or a plastic adjustable one then you will need the pole hose it will have to run externally though and that`s about it,

I just typed in "16m fishing pole" in the google search and it came up with prices of £695-£1,999 :o

Can you buy them cheaper.

I am thinking of going down that route. But not at the above prices ;)

How high will 16m take you? Oh... 13m ???

Matt i got it from a local fishing tackle supplier,i explained what it was for and he said he would keep the first 3 sections as he could sell them the pole should have been £299 so not a bad deal really,i think 13m is about 42ft but you can buy add-on but sections to extend them, have a look on ebay under "carbon pole" or "16m pole"

So if I bought a 16m (13m) pole could I add to that to go higher?

Do you add thicker sections to the bottom to extend?

Just looked on ebay and found 4 16m poles. Some are 3 years old with scratches and chips, and there looking for £200+

Jeff thanks for that link!

It looks good to me!  ?

Can I easily addapt it myself?

Could I add to it as I would like an option to go up to 60ft some time?

Have you ever used a fishing pole at 60ft?

Sorry for all the questions

Matthew

In case you missed it ( and appologies to those who have already seen too many times) heres a topic of roughly how to do it, It probably needs some close up pics when I get time. You need a saw and a screw driver. Reply 3 is the main one http://d.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=412&sid=321b6bb6be6561a9e469b44900e88f8d
