Just a quick question for anyone who has made a pole from a fishing pole. Whats the best thing to make a collar for the neck just below the gooseneck for a bit more strength? Not too sure what to use....

When i fitted the plastic thread in the end i used a 6 inch length of 15mm plastic pipe it pushes nice inside the thread then i fitted it into the pole and secured it with balck pvc tape,solid as a rock,

Thanks, it just seems the pressure is causing the insert I already put in to push on the outer surface and there is a tiny split. But the plastic pipe is a good idea, I could get a bit to slide over the top. Thanks. Now to find the right size......

An old piece of glass fibre tapered fishing pole cut to the right diameter.
Taper onto taper.
But if you use parallel plastic tube, wrap tape round the top part of the f/g pole until it almost matches the internal of the plastic tube to stop it waggling.
Or wrap 5 rounds of pvc tape at the point where the goose neck contacts. But you may have to go higher up the taper because you make the taper thicker.
Or if you use alu tube splay the base so that it has a slight taper. I used a circular bar from a socket set.
And/or fill the internal with Milliput putty.
Ideally if you just use the Zensorflex I reccomended you will find a section to cut a bit off.
Or a piece of on old telescopic landing net handle.

Just messing about with this trying to fit the gooseneck and thread adapter to a fishing pole and find that a 21mm length of plastic waste pipe has the same internal diameter as the unger no1, so rather than cut a length off the unger just use the plastic, it even "gives" a little to push on the taper of the pole and the thread adapter is a tight fit into the 21mm plastic.

If you are using an aerial mast alu bent goose neck, just use one of the thicker sections of the tapered pole to match the external dia. of the fishing pole and keep the upper section for the unger adjustable joint You will find partes of a simple £18.99 Zensorflex tapered glass fibre pole excellent for this and also useful for other bits and pieces.
The glass fibre sections just push fits/adapts onto any other pole tip somewhere on its length.
If using a goose neck a 15-25 degree bend is better than a 45 bend ?

It is the Zensorflex Jeff, the gooseneck is the plastic one, all fitted up now, just gotta trial it out, if we ever get any decent weather after today :(
