Will this company be able to clean my R.O's http://www.applied-ionics.co.uk/
On there services page, it says.
We carry out on site chemical cleans and regenerations of reverse osmosis and electro-demineralisation plants.
Cant seem to get hold of them! plus there phone numbers are not local to that area!

might end up more economical just buying new membrane
-
Hopefully not pj, It would cost me £280 something for a new membrane and I need two of them :-\ plus I couldnt fit them myself.
Im only down the road from there unit, so it would be ideal if i could just take them down there. However Im not going to pay more than £80-£90 per RO. I might pay a tad more providing they make good the ro's as new.

Propole, I can supply you some desal membranes (best in the business) for a lot less than £280 each.
E-mail me when you want them.
Fitting is so easy, unscrew the end-cap, slide out old membrane - slide new membrane in, replace end-cap.

First ro is the one on my van system, I have used this nearly every day from purchase in Nov 05. It has been maintained well with a backwash everyday and only pre filtered and softened water has been passed through it.
Its producing good quality water (15-20ppm) but at a very slow rate 1/4ltr per min (1ltr every 4mins) with water pressure of 50-60psi.
Second one I have just bought, I don’t know if it has been maintained of if pre filters have been changed of softener regenerated. its located on a system in my garage, product water of this r.o is quite bad around 270ppm and waste around 750ppm but strangely it produces fast 1ltr pm.
Not very happy about the first r.o considering its only just over a year old and Ionics praise how there r.o's last up to five years "sometimes longer" so im told, lol. My one must of been faulty. The amount of money I have spent alone backwashing, would of brought me a new r.o. altoghether!!!!!!!!!!!
Theres no way im buying another from them for £280 for it to last a year again!!

This is the reply I got from that company,
For small systems it is easier to replace the RO membrane than to clean/repair - we would have to partially dismantle the unit to clean the RO anyway.
From your description the unit in the van sounds like it is suffering from bacteria or organic fouling. The second unit with high flow and poor quality probably has a leaking seal or perforated membrane.
I will check our current price for 4"x40" commercial membranes.

David

8 YEARS :o :o
I flushed my filters and backwashed my water softner with salt every day costing me hundreds of pounds over the year!
Whats the point of a water softner if it doesnt even pro-long the life of the r.o! or does it!

My ionic RO is 5 years old now and i only do the back wash and the flush at the end of each week.
Still producing pure water at a steady rate
