Title: nightmare of a quote
Post by: matt jones on February 01, 2007, 05:04:12 pm
I just come back for doing a quote for an old friend of my mums. This house is a very old town house with very old carpets some prob 40yrs or so and show it. Started off, front room was a belgium wilton so that for me was a no-no as i dont have a low moisture system and wouldn't wanna risk hwe it wasn't fitted brilliantly either. Next all the basement carpets were stinking of cat p and she informed me that there was alot of it on these carpets which consisted of big hall, diner, office but all these carpets could be cleaned no prob. Next she takes me to the forth floor i mean this place is massive all axminster type carpets going up all the stairs and landings but very low profile as very old not only that i could probably see more backing then carpet no joke it was that worn one landing had been ripped to shreds by what looked like a cat. I just thought get me out of here this is a joke really didnt know what to say to here. She wanted a quote of me first but was saying that she might hire out a diy machine i warned her if you do then do not use it on the front room and be very careful on the stairs obviously i told her how cxxp these machines were but i really didnt want to do the job. Anyway i gave her prices of what i would be happy to clean minus lounge and stairs this left the 3 carpets in the basement and a bedroom on the forth floor like hell im gonna be axxxd to drag my porty up to the forth floor to do one bedroom. Anyway thats my nightmare of a quote for ya lol  :)

Heres how id approach the clean.

Pre Vac
Pre Spray Using Petrol at 0-0 dilution.
Allow to dwell long enougth to get your lighter out.
Id tell her it should be dry as soon as the fire goes out assuming the fire brigade arent involved.
Tell her your system will remove all stains and even remove the worn area's of her carpet (thats a first)

Id charge her about £150, however id get a disclaimer, ive had a few complain when ive used this procedure, cant think why.

matt we get jobs like this on a daily basis, i get sick of it at times
what some people expect from carpet cleaning.
got one tommorrow suite bad but should be great result, carpet well thats another matter, aw shadow pile "garden party" retail name, and they must have had a few of those on it pale green. straight in of street terrace house. been down 12 years, felt back, stone floor.

when i gave her qoute monday told her carpet was free and we wood do our best , but i hate  these type of jobs when you no that you are not going to get perfection, but all you can do is tell them, we have had situations where we have told them they wood be wasting there money and they still insist on item bieng cleaned.
