when i worked for the local council, we used to put RUBBER FLOOR paint on the floor of our vans

mainly it helped keep it clean and tidy

it just formed a rubber skin on the floor, it was fairly hard-wearing aswell

BUT the van wasn't wet all the time though

We used to use something called 'Red Lead' when I was in the army to paint the inside of tool bins on the side of our vehicles.

In this day and age of 'elf 'n' safety, it's probably illegal mind, but the tool bins were open to the elements, and I can't remember any rotting away.
