I bought a 250ltr flat tank and 3 210ltr rain water Butts from B&Q
Now the first time I filled my Tank, I had to go and stop the transfer pump before my tank over flowed, when I checked my water butt it still contained about 25ltrs of water, so I am thinking its not 250ltrs but 175ltrs? I contacted my supplier who was more than helpfull but he could not explain my findings, so he gave me the number of the manufacturers whom I phoned today, the secetary was helpfull and told me that there 175ltr tanks do not contain a baffle, (mine does) she told me she would get the director to call me back.
This afternoon the director called me and explained that they are worked out and made with a computer program and told me a few things about my tank, he come to the conclution that the water Butts from B&Q may well be more than 210ltr Tanks?
My question is, has anyone actually measured these rain water Butts? Mine are all full at the moment, so I can't test it.

Many thanks Martin, It does help
It still doesnt explain why it fills a 250ltr Tank though.

It's baffling, No seriously, if the tank holds 175 litres before the baffles are put in. It's bound to hold less afterwards. The baffles take up space that would be filled with water. Dai

Got in touch with Fiskars in Notinham, the manufacturers of the Rain water Butt and they weren't too sure, mind you I didn't get past the secetary and they reconed it was 220-225ltrs

Are you filling up an empty tank?
I used to have 250 litre tank and it would also overflow if i had what seemed a thin layer of water left in the tank.

These results were from the very first fill into a brand new tank
I'm going to empty everything the week-end Tank and water Butt and measure them both.
