Title: would you clean the frames on a
Post by: master cleaner on January 28, 2007, 09:28:09 pm
hi leading on from another post i thought i would set this post , i personally will only do frames on a £10 mininum house but earlier some have said that they do frames on every house which i find unrealistic as i have 300+ customers some at £5 per fortnight and i only clean the glass , but i have got many £15 houses where i will clean the frames also so what do the majority do

I always clean the frames (wfp) but I don't have any £5 houses. In fact my minimum charge is now £10 for new business.

My rate is not as good as all of yours just because I take my time (I am in no rush and still learning).  But the frames are sometimes black with dust.  I rub em round and they look great again.  Now do not get me wrong, those grey stains from years of build up do not get 100% shifted first time if it is too hard work.  I work on them a few seconds or so each time and eventually they look sparkling.

I tell my customers, because the last window cleaner neglected the sills and frames so much it might take a few more cleans but they should see an improvment every time.

The £5 customer could well lead to a £50 customer.  If the job is priced right I do not see how the price difference matters.

Agreed - but for me I have no full houses (all windows, front, back, sides, doors) that I will take on for less than £10. But whatever I do take on has it's frames and cills done in the price.

If you are cleaning the frames trad try using a damp microfibre works fine for me

Brett.

WOW there is a difference in window cleaners.

i personally have been wfp for 2 years now and my policy is , minimun £8 house , i charge £5 extra if they have their frames cleaned every time and if not i charge £3 extra per frame and door.
and before anybody jumps on me i am a good window cleaner who has been doing it for 12 yrs , most window cleaners in my area dont do frames but i offer the option .

i have got some low priced houses £3.50-£5 house which i wouldnt do the frames unless paid extra. i earn at least £20 per hour so to do the frames on these low paid houses would lower my pay which i am not willing to do

i am always picking houses up by word of mouth some want their frames others dont

so YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR  PAY FOR FRAMES AND GET THEM CLEANED , PAY FOR GLASS AND GET IT CLEANED.

WORKS FOR ME

i never clean a whole house for a fiver but all my customers have their frames cleaned, front doors, back doors and sometimes the porches around the front doors as well (depends on how much thier paying) we are in a time is money business and if you feel the customer is paying for enough of your time by only cleaning the glass then thats down to you, i personally would clean the whole window and frame and just up thier price or find some better priced customers
