help please got new 100psi shur flow pump and 100 meter mircobore hose.but the pump stop starts, but does not on a ½ hose. tx jerry
-
Shouldn't make a difference?
I take it you have 1/2 inch hose coming off the pump the to your reel which is microbore?
-
HI : i think you will find that you have a reg flow from the end of your brush ?
Its to do with the pressure switch in the pump .ie when it reaches the set pressure it switches off because Ithink by the way you have explained yourself you are running a reducer from half inch standard pipe through to a micro bore via a reducing connection . this tricks the pump to think its pumping into a large hose only for the pressure to increase quickly because it cannot escape through the microbore quick enough hense when the set psi is reached the pump will switch off for an instant ,only to switch back on when the water has flowed out of the pipe to the brush.
A word of warning if what Ive stated is true watch your pipes for bubbling ie blebbing like a tyre because the pressure in the half inch hose is constant.
If Im wrong [then Ill be jiggered]

dont worry about the pump stopping and starting its suppose to do that. if its a sureflow pumr you could adjust it ;see instructions with pump.

gaza i thought the pump was broke is that nom to stop start
tx for your help . jerry. ps my 60psi does the same whith the 6mm,i just did not think that was right

TO STOP AND START IS PERFECTLY NORMAL save the hose holding more pressure than is needed which results in a blistering effect and eventually holed hoses.
ADJUSTMENT :if you look under the pump you will find a allen screw this will allow you to turn up or turn down the pump flow break eg when it cuts out and comes back on [pressure ]
IF it AINT BROKEN DONT FIX IT ::)

could you use a house hold dimmer switch or simmaler to adjust the pump or is this silly

Take a look at the Varistream Pump Controller info on www.williamsonpumps.co.uk
-
the start stop is because the microbore is causing to much backpressure.
the stop start will eventually damage the pressure witch on the pump, and at around £15.00 + VAT you don't wanna replace to many of these.
fitting a varistream will cure the nose switch burning out problem, but not the stop start problem (will make it better, but not perfect)
you need bigger hose, like this - http://www.cleantech.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_41&products_id=265
