How do you get along with the stand up tank, does it make a difference to the way your van handles?
-
Nicely set up Matt 8) whats that on the left? looks like a safe, do you earn that much ;D
Seeing other peoples vans, is making me seriously concider my self for a change and not my kids who have all flown the nest.
May start thinking of buying myself a van.

To be totally honest with you it doesn't effect it that much except when the tank is full.
You feel it a bit on corners and you have to hit the brakes slightly sooner than normal.
But in general it's ok ;)

Are both poles "padded" ?
What are the straps fastned to ?
The wiring and pump board is tidy, can you still access the back of it ?
How many Gallons/litres do you carry on an average day ?

Thanks!
The safe ;D is actually a fridge. Keeps my beer nice and cool ;D

Jeff,
Only the short 3x3 pole is padded. Bicycle handle bar grip is what I used. I only put it on because when I received the pole I pulled it out of it's packaging and didn't know the fitting on the end of the hose was loose and left a deep scratch up the length of the pole >:(
Yes, I can still access the back of the pump and all wires. All I would need to access is the in line fuse.
I usually only fill the tank up to the half way mark. (325L)
That should just last me short of 2 day's.
On big jobs I fill up to 500L
Oh the straps! Behind the wood on the bulkhead is 3 sections of box section metal welded to the side of the van. Then welded to that is metal hooks for the straps.

Matt what brackets have you used to fix the pole holder in the van ?, looks nice and tidy with plenty of room left.
Jeff

There is loads of room left ;)
I didn't use brackets. I just used small ratchet straps going the full width of the van. If you look closely you might make it out.

Ply lined is good- and I'm sure adeqate. Liked your poles up out the way by using only a short lenght of pipe. Any plans for tidying the spaggetti tubes soming off them?
-
No plans as yet. Doesn't bother me. Well to be honest I can't think of anything :-[
Any ideas
-
If you can i would advise you at somepoint to protektacote your floor........a few drips...overfilling dosent matter in the short term but do it a few times within 6-12 months as soon as the water finds bare metal under your ply you will have a hole bigger than the grand canyon ive seen this happen and that's it bye bye van. What van have you installed your equipment in?
-
Transit swb.
Don't think I will get a big hole like the grand canyon as the van has just been well underseald. Well maybe eventually :-[
Can I just protekta kote the floor? Or would I need to silicone around the edges and paint it 4-5 inches up the side?
Cheers
-
I used to have a transit swb speedlinerd by Tuckerpoles £450 + vat but you can diy with this lots of people here have done it ..you just go about 5- 6 inches up your side ply this will stop any water getting through

But will I need to silicone around the edges where the wall meets the floor?

If you want to keep your ply down, then why not use the underseal you can buy at say halfords, then reinstall your ply? the ply will protect the underseal from damage, and will be a hell of a lot cheaper than protektacote. and its thick enough to fill small gaps around the edge. Just a thought.
-
Vehicle manufacturers found that the main cause of rust was water being trapped in inaccessable places. The outside of cars/are exposed to rain/pure water all the time. I don't see too many running round with holes like the Grand Canyon with peoples heads sticking out the roof.
Here's a dare.If this is true, someone post a picture of a hole in the floor. Otherwise it's just pseudo science.

Thats a good thought jeff but I can't lift the floor as I built and fixed the boxes around the wheel arches over the floor.
I don't fancy taking them apart as it was a task and a half building them.
Cheers jeff

Whats the average rain fall in a year.....????? rain water has somewhere to go...If the inside of your van is continuslly geeting wet with pure water from poles ,tanks, hoses day in ,day out all week every month the effect is going to be much different than rainwater...Also the water in a van is probably going to be reading between 015-000 lower than rainwater........ maybe you could find out let us know in a years time
-
Welds and seams rust badly. Anywhere there is a gap.So they designed them with fewer, and put drainage chanels and tubes in where they could. I suppose If any holes have been drilled for anchorage, then these are the most likely rust points.

In my opinion, the best brush on the market! absolutely superb. I won't have anything else now although the facelift is good but a bit big for domestic ;)
