Hi,
about a month ago I had a mail shot from MASTERCLEAN. It didn’t have enough postage on it and so £1.14 was due on it.
The owner ( Vernon Purcell) blamed his office staff for making a mistake, fair enough.
HAD THE SAME THING AGAIN TODAY !
Its a brown A4 envelope, with a white address label.
Inside is a mail shot from masterclean selling a machine.
So if you don’t want to pay £1.14 for junk mail, don’t pay the postman !
I guess that this points to a VERY INCOMPETANT COMPANY ?
What’s the excuse this time Vernon ?
regards
Chris
ps I didn’t have to pay either time, the postman just pushed it through, no one home.
pps This is a link to a topic on the subject last time http://www.cleantalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=9788

The guy sounds like he is backwards and simple minded,if that is how he runs his business

Peter very cleverly suggested not to use Master Clean but regretably there were two words I felt I could not allow

In his defence postage rates have recently changed and are now based on the size of the envelope as well as the weight.
He's probably not aware that an A4 envelope will cost more to post than an A5 one of the same weight.

He did the same thing a month ago !
He knows about the new rates. Its either a con to reduce his postage costs or VERY incompetant office staff.
this is the link to the last time that he sent out A4 envelopes with incorrect postage.

It was mentioned an here and I also, got one

Yes I got one as well a little while back.
It is very annoying having to go to the sorting office only to find out it is only sales material, perhaps we should invoice him for our wasted time.
Royal Mail sent out a leaflet to every home and business in the country expaining the new rates and charges,in this pack was a size guide.
This has been raised here before and I am sure Mr Purcell would have seen it,so no excuses.

i agree with steve,
why someone would wish to take the time to post this topic and
condem a man, all for a mistake, baffles me,
ive purchased of mr purcell and add great service and a quick delivery, and better prices than have found else were.

The reason for my posting is because I know that when they send out mailshots like this they send out about 1000 at a time.
I reckon I got one of the first ones, so by posting here i may save a good many others the bother of paying for junk mail?
Or even worse, having to go to the post office to collect and pay for junk mail.
You may not of read my first posting correctly? He sent out the same mail shot, with the wrong amount of stamps on them, only 4 weeks ago !
Personally I think that once is a mistake, but twice is a sneaky way of getting out of paying the full postal costs of a mail shot.
The first time that it happened he got a bit of flack on these sites, so would you make the same mistake twice
Unless you ment to ?
Perhaps tomorrow 300 carpet cleaners will not have to pay for junk mail from masterclean because they read this posting ?

Chris, I doubt it was done on purpose. Guy done it up here once and urinated off a lot of customers. It wouldn't make sense.

I BOUGHT some screws from a uk supplier last week, postage was £1.28, I went to send them on to portugal today postage was 64p....... apparently the 5mm thick rule does not apply to international.... itis confusing , maybe masterclean could turn this round and offer everyone who was inconvenienced a furthur discount on his products?
-
Last time it happened he offered anyone that purchased a new machine a discount of £1.14 ::)
-
can see your point chris but at the end of the day if my postman said to me you need to pay for this item, i just wouldnt pay it and tell him to get lost.
cant see why someone would pay it, so it didnt need to cost you anything really, or had your curiosty got the better of you
darren
maybe mr purcell did it so you would take a proper look at is products and get your attention, only joking
next time the postie says you need to pay for something tell him to sod of problem solved
-
Trouble is you just don't know what it might be. Happened to me once, when I seen it was a circular I nearly hit the roof, however that circular has subsequently been very beneficial.
-
I am amazed postman Knocks on door to ask for surcharge.
We have to go to sorting office, and then pay
-
ian when this happened to me he actually gave me a card with the amount on to pay when you collected the item,
obviously you dont pay the postie
-
Thanks Chris for highlighting this.
I bought something of them previously, so must be on their mailing list. Got in today to find card from postman saying £1.14 due on item addressed to my company name.
Saved me the trouble of picking it up.
Cheers
