Hi all
Went on a quote today and came acroos a fabric that I could not ID.
Material seemed to be very similar to a Terry Toweling of some kind but very expensive. Not come accross this before with the normal sort of M&S or G Plan.
It was made by a small company in Hampshire.
Any Idea's?
Cheers
Neil

I have a fabric sample in my collection that is as you describe and it is 100% Cotton.
HOWEVER....It is difficult to carry out an identification process without actually seeing the fabric ...the best that can be done therefore... is a guesstimate

HI Derek
Its a raised material that is very soft and does appear to be cotton and as you have said.
Will do all the normal pre-tests on this before I clean but have not cleaned this sort of material before.
Any recomendations on cleaning process in mind of the material that you think it maybe.
Cheers and Thanks
Neil

I think its velour, bite like a long pile velvet, from the 70`s

Test it with a teaspoon of water in an inconspicious area, and blot it off, if the material goes flat it is viscosse, which it sound like to me.
You can wet clean if you know what you are doing but if your not sure, dry clean I'm afraid.

Cotton pile fabric will go flat too if wet
