Title: SX-12 & GEKKO
Post by: AquaMagic on January 16, 2007, 07:09:04 pm
Has anyone got either of these systems, if so do they work?,  how profitable is this kind of work and is there any formal training required, are there better systems available?

Im looking to expand a little and was looking at Tile cleaning as an option but wondered if i could call upon everyones collective experience before making an investment.

Many thanks

Dene

I use the sx-12 and have found it is very easy to use. Price wise I get more for cleaning hard flooring than I do for carpeting. I think this is because the clients expect to pay more for hard surfaces. There isnt realy training availible as far as I know on how to use these machines but you do need to go on a course to find out how to clean what. Best, Dave.

Thanks Dave, ill certainly look into it a little more, after all its bound to be a good add ann, just like everyone has carpet or soft furnishings in thier house somewhere the same could be said with Tiles or Hard floor.

The Turbo Hybrid is the best tool for this kind of work. You can see them here:
Simon you can see them here: http://www.carpet-cleaning-equipment.net/turboforce_hard_surface.shtml
We can source these if anyones interested.

Although you can charge a considerable amount more for tiles than for carpets, its often alot more work. I have the SX-12, SX-7, and all the gekko hand tools. I bought all of this because there was no training and I thought I needed every thing.

I now scrub the edges by hand rather then the gekko corner tool, I dont do shower cubicle unless I really have to, and therefor hardly use the SX-7.

I always insist on giving a demo because there are certain ceramic tile profiles that don't look any different once they have been cleaned and most customers want a visual difference for the price they are paying.

Having said all of this, I cleaned 200sqm the other day. Had 3 people helping to move the furniture. The job took 2 hours and I charged the same as for 300sqm of carpet. The end result was absolutely spectacular.

Having said all of this I only get one job per month. Its something I would lke to concentrate on this year.

They say they will work with 400psi, however I think you need at least 1000 to have any real effect and to make it spin adequately.
