Hi
Receiver of Revenue stated that I can only claim a "pay as you go" phone against tax.
They will not accept a contract phone because so many of them have 'offers' attached such as so many free texts etc.

Since when?  ???
A couple of customers or new people may phone you each month, but it's rare to have to make any outgoing calls.

Technically it does not matter what the revenue man said, if you can prove it was only used for business use or what percentage was then you stick to your guns and claim.

But pay as you go is probably a safer bet anyway.  much easier to say "this was bought for my company only as I already have a phone for personal use"

Spruce.

If you used a contract phone for 100% buisness use you could claim 100% of the phone contact against tax.

You know thats unlikely so you claim a percentage of the phone contract for buisness use, knowing that you use it privately as well. 50% is the norm.
