what is with all the new forums I keep getting emailed about???!!!

is there an upside to running and maintaining a forum?

I have often thought that, I cant see any benefit of running a forum. Unless
it is for the enjoyment.

Purely enjoyment and the thought that in some small way you may actually be helping out someone, apart from the forums that advertise there own company or certain products in the header,  ;)
