Title: Can you drink the pure water?
Post by: steveaqua on January 08, 2007, 08:49:29 pm
Just wondered what the difference between pure water we clean windows with to the pure water we buy and drink, is it kind of the same? different PPM? or totally different??

Must admit in the summer i drank the water straight from the hose, never done me no harm nor did it play havoc on my guts, needs must on a burning hot day ;)

AS long as it's not gone through the resin you can drink it.

These health places use RO systems i was told as it is better for you to drink.

It wont hurt you after the resin.  Just not very fullfilling b/c of the fact that the minerals have been leeched.

I read a thread on here a while ago that said although the RO/DI takes the dissolved solids out, chemicals remain. Maybe if it takes out what the water compant puts in to make the water safe to drink then the harmful chemicals can harm us again? Just a thought.

well seeing as the merlin was designed for domestic use, as well as other ro's I'd have said yes.
Although I have no idea about after di resin but would'nt have thought that matters afterall its removing tds and not adding anything.

you cannot drink it after the resin as the resin is toxic.

Toxic?  What makes it toxic?

I have had many conversations with water proffessionals and they all say their is no harm.

The resin is toxic, ro'd water is good for you but di water can be made toxic from the resin.

I guess its possible that all the resins are different and some could be toxic.  I have always advised guys not to drink it, but have never actually been told by water treatment companies that it is toxic.

NEVER DRINK PURE WATER!

Bottled water isnt pure, its just more pure than tap. It still contains minerals.

The problem with pure water is that it should only be drunk staight after production or should have been stored in an air tight container,
The Merlin was designed for domestic use so that pure water can be had on demand other ro's have to store the water in an air tight container's
Because it is pure there are no chemicals present to stop bacteria growing,(nasty little things some of these can be)
When I first started useing pure water I would drink the stuff, I was lucky the worst I got was a sore throut,I still drink the stuff but I fill a bottle straight from the Ro and only keep it for that day
