Title: vehicle (work) size Matters?
Post by: Mark Stanley on January 05, 2007, 06:50:16 pm
Looking to upgrade from a vauxhall combo - just wanted to see what others are using. I don't necessary want to run a t/m but I do want to run at least a portable from the van.

Regards
Mark

hi all

for me a citeron dispatch 2.0 HDI,
110 bhp so fairly powerfull for a van
fairly easy to run as far as vans go,
drives like a seven seatter,
plenty of room for a portable, chemicals, wands and so on

could pick up a good one for about £2500 - £30000

Started with a Ford Courier that wasn't big enough so I got a Fiat Scudo JTD can't fault it but still need more room.
Now thinking I need a slightly bigger van to make a bit more space in my garage.

Iveco, massive but brilliant :)

cost me £100 a week for 3 years, but the peice of mind I get from a new, warrented van is priceless :D

I know exactly how much my van will cost with no nasty MOT bills. plus its nice to have a new van

with any van i find that its the biggest waste of money to my buiss you pay an arm and a leg for something new then its worthless four years later  :-[ so good cheap vans are the way too go trust me ! if there not paid for then they have to go to work

this is why i wont pay  more then a1000 pounds for any of my vans but im lucky my hubbys a god when it comes to motors heres a few pics

got this for 400 pounds 53 reg 14k on the clock last year didnt need testing for 7 months

600 pounds later and four days free work from hubby it looks like this (two days getting jigged one days worth of painting and a day to bluid it up)

i wont have anything but bumped vans as i dont lose anything on them at all and the last 4 ive sold i may on them its the only way

hi there

im impressed with the van refurbishments.

we go down a different route, of brand new vehicles, or a 12 month swap out, we pay a premium, but if they go wrong, the warranty and the courtesy vehicles make life a whole lot easier.

cant be doing with broken down vehicles etc.

martin

We use a Toyota Powervan SWB - plenty big enough for our ninja, all the usual plastic and metal addy on bits and a back up machine.  Our other one's a Peugeot Expert - very nice to drive and still big enough.

In London it's gotta be short wheel base - it's hard enough to find a parking space as it is without having to find two!

Darren.
