checked the purity of my water coming outta my hoses today and it was permanently saying 001 ppm, i have some spare resin so i will change it, just wondered why its permanently saying 001 why not 005 or 009 why only 001? found it quite strange ???

I'm not quite sure what you mean by permenantly? did you only check it today or has been like that days/weeks? personally I would'nt bother changing the resin until you see it increase to 005 and depending on your water quality before di and the volume of water you use daily that could possibly take a week or two maybe? or maybe your meter is out slightly if does stay at 001 I would'nt worry too much.

have you checked the battery on the tds meter?
-
it will rise as the resin is used up / depleted
try your meter on some tap water, that will be higher ( of course ) just to test your meter
-
the meter works fine, its coming outta my tap at 280 and the RO around 45-55ppm which is a little high i know but the TDS meter seems to be working fine.
The reason i find it a little odd at 001ppm is it has been sat there for about three days and isn't risen it is just reading 001 all the time, when my resin has needed changing before it would normally go from 0-5-8-15 ppm all in the space of one day
-
mines been reading 001 for weeks now, keep saying channge the resin but it ccleans the windows okay, any consolation. , mind you there is a bit of discolouring of my clear pipe that I use from my ro to the 1000 litre ibc that I use to collect the pure water in

have you changed the brand of resin you use??? ???
for me, when i used to use purolite as soon as the tds reached 001 it would just shoot right up within a day or two at the most to 015/020+
but by chance i used dowex resin & found that as well as lasting longer at 000 tds, when it did eventually hit 001 tds it would stay there for ages (between 1 & 2 weeks)!!! thus resulting in me using it all the time from then on as it saves me considerable money over purolite. ;D ;D ;D

mines been 004 for months, the resin i guess has gone, its 004 out of the ro
-
what is the danger level? i've used it at 5-7ppm but only while waiting for a new bag of resin to turn up
-
I have found that during rainy spells the water tds out of my RO is lower - whereas it has usually been 010 - 012 in summer, it's been 004 - 008 much of the time.
My tap water tds (in Bristol) is reduced from about 400 to 300 as well, so I wonder if the reservoirs are "purer" due to increased rainfall versus recycled water being a higher proportion of the supply.
Is that possible or am I talking my usual nonsense?
-
Resin doesn't remove all the impurities so the 1 ppm you are showing is just a trace of something that wasn't caught by the filters. Don't worry about it. If it starts to climb above 5 then change your filters and look at the resin.

Heres a strange one...........................
My water out of the DI is reading 001.............................
But dip test the tank, with same meter, and it's 000
Not worried......................just find it strange??? ??? ???
-
I get that when my resin is just at the point where its gone from 0 tds to 1 tds so the tank is reading 0 tds but out the DI is now at 1.
Then again the TDS meter accuracy is at 25 degrees, anything less and the reading will change, this cold weather who knows what the correct reading is, my calibration fluid gives a totally different reading in winter as opposed to summer :-\

To be honest, who cares so long as it leaves windows spotless.

exactly but how would you know its left them spotless until you get home and all them customers have rung to complain?
thats why i watch it closley as i've had my fingers burnt before when not checking it regular
-
A little tip.....
Take your resin out of your di cannister give it a good old shake replace the resin and see what tds meter reads
I bet it will be 000

If i done that i would have to be jeff capes, I have the 25 LTR vessel and to shake it you need arms like popeye! :D

Well, I have measured rain water from 0 up to 5 ppm. But rain water can still leave spots that can be seen against bright sunshine. And that's on just cleaned wfp windows.
That's why I always try and keep it 0 ppm.Dai
