Well today i have sent out 100 letters to old clients, basically wishing them a happy new year and offering a after the party cleanup special offer. I also used the oppertunity to send them all a sticker with my contact details on for them to stick somewere safe if they dont need me just yet, so hopefully it will lead to a bit of work down the line as well.
Iv broadend the areas im listed on google addwords, so the towns that i usually wouldnt really want to drive to, im now listed on so iv cast the net a bit wider there.
I dropped 3000 leaflets to my delivery guy wich will all be done this week.
And i will be leafleting myself in my spare time this week as so far i only have 4jobs booked in.
But more importantly, im gonna use some of the spare time iv got on my hands to work on the buisness rather than in it as once im back in full swing theres gonna be no time to think. I hope ;)

Do adwords work well on google and how much do you spend per area.

Works great at getting leads, or at least it does for me.
Trouble is there usually from all over the place, as iv found people dont search by there local area but by county ie; Essex or Hertfordshire, Suffolk etc. So to get a decent volume of leads you have to really list the whole county but this means getting jobs 40-50 miles apart at times.
Wich imo just aint worth it when you have a lot of work on, but its good to get you started or when things are a bit quite, then once work picks up again you just go back to your local towns or villages and pick up a couple of leads a month.
Iv booked 2 jobs from it since yesterday, not very great jobs and there both 20-30 miles away but at least it gives me a bit of cashflow.

I did three jobs today, however I was early for the last one so I had a walk around the block and dropped off some of my new postcard flyers (about 40 ish)
That was at around 3pm today, it's now 9.30pm and so far I have booked two firm jobs and an enquiry as a direct result of those flyers!!
I know what I'll be doing with any spare time I have!
I also phoned the local free weekly paper today to see what it costs for advertising in there (£49+vat for a 5cm x 2 column in single colour). However there are already 3 other cleaners in there advertising:
"Suite and carpet cleaned and protected for £30"
I may give it a miss.
As for tomorrow......I'm off for a days golfing up the coast at Bamburgh!!

Just finishing off a mail shot to 1000 pre custys. Posting them out Thursday.
£10 off before end feb ( orders over £55).
I do this most years, it always gets me loads of work ;D
Cheers

Get A Web Site:
Internet presence is a must, most web site enquiries are a higher value than the norm who cares how far you have to travel 20..30..40..50..60..80 miles if the monies right, just get up earlier and get going.
What would you rather do sit at home doing/earning nothing or spend a day out earning,.
Its only time and this is going to pass any way so you may as well use it.
-
Exactly, why sit at home and moan that the phone doesn't ring. Go out and make it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always offer free scotchgard during january, first call for that today :)
And have sent out Free calendar magnet to all my business customers with all my contact details on.
Just working on my database to get some reminder postcards out now 8)

Scotchgard!!
Where do you get that from?
more to the point if you can get Scotchgard, isnt it pricy to be giving away?

Like most we started back on the second, I didn't expect much work this week, but I have been pleasantly surprised there's been enough to keep two of us busy, at this rate may have to work Saturday, not getting too excited dare say the work will stop when the winter electricity and gas bills hit the doormats.
Anyway I'll worry about that when it happens, a very happy new year to you all. Ted

geoff,
What i really mean is extracta stainguard, use to use scotchgard and it just rolls of the tongue ;)
the water based one isn't really that expensive to use and i only do it for January to get the work kickstarted!
