I don't think I've seen a topic on here about cost per litre. How do you guys cope with the cost of that? Do you find it's negligible compared to how much you earn a day? I'm not a home owner myself, nor live on my own, so I haven't really looked into the total cost of water. Is it like 0.08p per litre?
I mean, 400 litres a day, around ; what is it? 200 working days a year? (probably more like 240) anyway, that's like 80000+ litres a year? How much money does it actually cost to run a 400ltr system a day?
Any ideas and experiences with this?

I was told around a 1000 litres is about 2.00? I dont fill up at home i fill at a relations house and have been for 6 months, they have told me that they have not seen a difference in the bills they recieve!

It costs peanuts with an RO. Regularly shake the di polisher and its cost me one bag of resin in a year and a half. But if your on a water metre, its another story...

My parents house is on a water meter, what exactly makes it a different story then?
So it's £1.12 per 1000 litre ey?! that's not so bad at all!!

im on a meter and in the 2 years my bill has risen in 2 years by about 20 quid a month
i use 100 - 150 L a day though, 3 days a week
i would say 2 quid a day for me, its not much, not because i earn more, just for the safety side of it

our bill has gone from approx £400 per year upto around £750 p.yr always been on a meter

Do you not mean 500ltrs per day? Are you still using that submersible pump instead of getting a Shurflo like I told you to!! ;D ;D

Hi Guy's,
Have 2 vans on the go 5 days a week an 1 new van that we are gradually building up.
The 5000 litres per day is inclusive of the waste water when producing our water. I have 2 x 1000 litre holding tanks as well.

I am on a water meter and my usage is 400/500 litres per day. I am on a meter and per 1000 litres it costs me £0.83p Not bad at all.
I used to buy my water of another window cleaner before getting an ro unit and that cost me £16:00 per 400 litres!
So for me being on a meter is far cheaper !

I've been thinking about this and I don't like some of the answers. I am on a meter, and my supplier's website states that it charges domestic customers £106 for one cubic metre (which I think I am correct in sayingis 1000 litres).
There is also a charge for drainage.

Hm, yea you are correct on the thousand litre. £106 is alot for a thousand litre. hmmm ???

That doesn't sound right to me. Maybe there is a typo in their price list? £1.06 would sound closer.

It's the way you are reading it rather than what they have written.
NOT 106 pounds and 46 pence
BUT RATHER
106 POINT 46 pence
i.e £1.06.46 OR One pound and six POINT four six penbce.
The absence of the pound sign at the beginning is the key.
So you would be paying £24.00 per year PLUS £1.06 pence per 1,000 litres (roughly speaking).

I have not started my wc career fully yet, but it does occur to me that a tax inspector might be able to extrapolate the number of days you work and your yearly earnings from your water usage.

If you check your water usage prior to setting upyour system and compare it to your water usage after setting up, it should be possible to arrive at a fair figure for your business use. I suggest that you keep your metered domestic water bill from BEFORE you start up so you can give some proof if the I.R. ever ask for it.
