Hi all
Does any body have a tank in there car.
The payload on my estate is - 450 kgs what size of tank would i get. Bearing in mind fuel (half tank) myself 18 stones (Big chap)
and usual gubbings.
Would 250 Litres be ok ?

Securing it might be a problem. Why not think about a van

if you can fit it in go for 250, You dont have to fill it right up if at 3/4 full the car cant take much more then stop filling

anchor fixing normally in the boot , esp as its a estate car
use some nice tie down ratchet straps and it wont move

In an acident the weight of a tank is multiplied many times. It amazes me the number of people who carry unsecured loads in cars without a bulkhead or who pin thier faith in small eye point that are only meant for tieing down cat baskets.

Poles may be a problem......a 35 foot pole comes in 6 foot sections so you may struggle to get it in and out of the car but maybe not.Also your hose reel etc may cost you alot of time as its all secured ,bolted or tied down in a van.

i've got a 125 ltr flat tank that i used to have in the boot of my picasso?
£45 and its yours (delivery not included). its just sitting in my shed, and has been for about a year now.

Before my van, I had a 175L in the back of my Honda Estate plus two 25L barrels in the front passenger footwell. Plus a shurflo backpack (16L) and 100m of microbore.
The backseat was down and the tank was longways behind the front passenger seat so that it wouldn't slide into me in the event of an accident.
(I could put another two 25L barrels behind me if I had a "big job")
Now I carry 300/400L in the van with room (and payload) to spare.
Thought about a trailer?

And there was me I put a post up a couple of months ago for a wc in Gossport to clean several MOD houses, but got no response. Never mind

Before I moved to a Van I had a 50 Gall loft tank (baffled myself) in the back of a Montego Estate, put the battery and pump inside and fed a line to the outside for the water.
Fitted the Hose reel to a bike carrier on the outside with the pole resting nicely on my ladders on the roof rack.
The Vehicle started the day quiet low down but soon started to rise as I used it, never bother to check on the legality, but it never gave me any probs and I was tailed several times by Mr plod
the picture gives you some idea this was mark two before I got fed up with taking the trolley of the back and decided to put tank inside which was mark 8

I'm in Sompting nr worthing its more having time to travel down that way I need to be flat out between now and christmas eve.
