darn it, pressed to early.
What do you mean? How many time you do the street itself? Only once for me.
If you mean, how many time a year do you go out canvassing? That's pretty much every week now. ??? :)
-
One street mate, say you have a few custy's in a certain road how many times in that year would you canvass that actuall road.
Sorry for the confusion.

never for me aswell, they come to me ;D

That would be one then, and I voted right 1st time.

You have not put enough options on.
For me none.
I don't go out canvassing.
I used to do leaflets but its been over a year since i last did that.
So no canvassing and no leaflets.

I keep meaning to, ::)

I aim to leaflet each area that I have (have setup 4 distinct areas) every 3 months, each street that I have customers gets a different leaflet which tells them I have 'today' cleaned in your street and I am available.

We generally just canvass one street the once and then as we pick them customers up you tnd to get "Could you please clean my windows, and how much do you charge?" And eventually you get nearly a full street!

no option for NEVER
i dont need to, i have more than enough work though recommendations from customers, i guess i do a good job and that pays

Any clever w/c would allways look for new better work and drop old work.
Plus some of us work more than 3days a wekk Matthew!!

Haven't put leaflets or door knocked for about a year.
Alot of work comes from recomendation or Yellow Pages

Pylofilm,
you seem to have a massive rate of refusals and a worrying amount of cancelled customers.
I would guess that you are pricing too high for your area and not spending enough time per customer to ensure a good job.
What is happening there?
-
I'm afraid that I have never canvassed at all!

oh dear, another stalker in the making
Dear mr Pole
some of us, DO NOT need to work more than 3 days a a week, some of us have a FAMILY they LOVE to spend time with and bring up
i know your young ( so you might not understand, but try and read this and when your older you will think, that guy was right ) , when i was young i was earning VERY good money, farily often over 1 K a week, thats why i have a small mortgage and can work 3 days a week and then spend time with my little daughter
dont jump on the bandwagon of that other idiot
your point on better work is valid, i have a nice round, i dont need to seek better work, why can you not understand that, i am happy with my round, my round expands with recommendations

;D
Fair enough Matthew, I see your point ;)
let me just tell you briefly about a house that I canvassed a couple of months back. Yesterday while working I had a phone call from this new customer "will you come an give us a quote on another building we have" soon as she said building I had £ signs ringing in my head, is it a house I said? No, its a Hotel she said :o :o :o ££££££££££££££££
Looks like its mine too went to have a butchers yesterday I have to go back next week to go over 'terms' hopefully signing the contract, at least a couple of K a year, Sweet 8)
Never think that you have enough work, it would be very silly to!!

its very nice to get good jobs, ive found ive got to a point now that my prices i give out are GOOD and if i get them, Great, if i dont, no harm done as i have the work
the thing is, i dont think i could fit much more in, when my little un starts school full time next year it will be slightly different i can do a extra day ;)
i do some nice comercail work, it pays great, i would never ditch domestic for comercail though, as the comercail work seems VERY fickle imho

Once I have a couple of customers in a road I will try to build up a cluster around them.
I have a leaflet that says
"I was cleaning windows in your road today. If you would like me to clean yours next time Please call me on ......."
I will hit the whole road with them from time to time. Its amazing how effective they are. Once you get a few more follow.
-
As a new guy here I also find that it takes getting a customer in order for other customers in the same road to 'trust' me....it is a slow process and I look forward to the day that I can start to mold my round.
Dave.

Thats right, the others watch you and then after a while you get known as "THE" window cleaner. You may think that when you turn up at a house the street is deserted but behind those curtains eyes are watching.
